For my son's 19th birthday, I took him deep-sea fishing.

It's often challenging to spend time alone with your kids once they reach an age of independence, so I'll post this, hoping it may give you an idea in case you find yourself in a similar situation and are looking for ideas.

We got lucky. A perfect day on the water. The sea was calm and the weather warm.

To top off a perfect day, my son landed the largest fish on the boat (Hake), winning $200 and his next trip for free.

If you pull them up from deep enough fast enough, the eyes will bulge right out of their heads.

I am taking the boy kid and son-in-law fishing off of Siesta Key on Monday. We stay close to shore, about seven miles out. We aren't looking for monsters, just a cooler full to eat all week long.

Also if the place is still there, they sell fresh smoked whitefish.
IIRC it's right past the Mackinac Bridge. I haven't been there in years though.
