I don't know what the fuck you're all on about with anti-college.
If anything I met more right wing people people there because they had the money to go.

I was enrolled in a Canadian university in 2012, it was an IT/media program and if politics ever came up it was because a student brought it up, smugly, to 'correct' an older prof who said something they didn't like and deemed offensive. It was honestly a huge roadblock some days:

"How can you use the word STEREOTYPE out loud, sir?"
"Well this is a class about character design/development, so sterotypes are how we iden-"
"HE SAID IT AGAIN, THIS WORD IS INHERENTLY NEGATIVE"

Plus these profs are mostly just nerds, so they lacked the will to refute, mostly just said "Are you done? Great." Which is perfect, because it was never a conversation that could be manipulated, just shut down. I can see it getting out of hand and heated if they went up against someone with the chops and awareness to rebut.

Don't even get them started on Master/Slave hardware... PS have they changed that yet in the technical literature?

The kids bringing this up were anime addicted, LGBTQ2IA+, ugly as sin and organized a literal Furry Day and 2 dozen of them went skiing dressed in fursuits. So yea, it's pretty bad, and that was 10+ years ago, and pre-gamergate too. I see where people are coming from, and if I had to deal with that year in and year out? Nah man, I'd be looking for work.

Jeff

Nah, teachers and college professors aren't to blame... right?

Start this video at 15:15 for just a couple of examples. There are way more than just these few.

If someone sends their kids to college and THOSE are the kids that completely change their worldview...then the college isn't their problem and they need to look at their own parenting.

I mostly agree with that sentiment. And I guess the one could argue the same point about Charlie Kirk as well. which makes his murder all the more sensless.

The problem as I see it, is not the kids that are changing their world view, (although peer pressure has always been a big influence) so much as the entire culture itself. I've never been to a big university, and the news that I consume could be slanting my views, I have to admit.

But I recently read the biography of Yeonmi Park, a north korean defector that ended up in Columbia University. And I have to say her experience there saddens me.

Are you somehow omniscient? Is the bubble you occupy somehow all-inclusive, but @TylerBeer 's isn't?

Apologies if I've misinterpreted your statement, but I'm reflexively skeptical of anyone these days who claims to have "the whole picture" or "the inside scoop." We seem mostly to have suspended our critical faculties in favor of full-throttle tribalism.

I think it's safe to say that each and every one of us has a curated feed for the various inputs in our online presence (social media, search engines, news feed, etc..., and unless we ACTIVELY go outside that curation and search out contrary information, we will never see it. It is as if it doesn't exist.

If we don't see it, it's not real. If it's not real... and on down that tribal road we go.

LOL! We all say that! So you get a steady diet of both right-wing BS, as well as left-wing BS, just to be fair and balanced.

It's all beginning to make sense now-GIGO.

I think that his murder was about as senseless as it gets already. I've seen a lot of right wing extremist influencers that I would have expected to get far more hate than Kirk. Milo Yiannopoulos comes to mind. Or more currently, Andrew Tate.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.
