In an attempt to be fair w/o taking sides, I'd suggest we look at the number of posts on the "General Discussion" forum (Posts: 76,700) compared to the number of posts on the "Industrial" forum (Posts: 5,890) as of ~2:40PM, 09/16/2025.

While admitting a strong preference for "quality" over "quantity" in many areas of life, I'd suggest this still gives us a useful insight into our collective priorities here!

Public gum-flapping and armchair quarterbacking of all manner of current affairs seems considerably more compelling than machining-related matters!

Technical contributions when requested are an important. The... ummmm... gum flapping and arm chair quarterbacking is just to pass time. Now we know how the Maytag repairman feels.

As much as I would have liked to see the tech support side of the forum take off, it just never happened. And it wasn't because it's difficult to find.

Duckduckgo, google, and brave searches, if you search mastercam forum, this forum is in the top 3. Yet it only gets a handful of new registrations every couple of months, most of which, are bots.

It is weird to call out 3 people for not "contributing" when there are at most, out of 50 people who log on every day, maybe 5 who actually answer questions. What about the other 45? 

There has a been a lot more action on that side lately, but most of the topics have been complaints about MC or the direction Sandvik is taking it.  I'm glad they haven't made a stink about the domain name.

Not to take away from anyone who does contribute, because it's always appreciated. The truth is, if we were relying on that side of the forum to keep the doors open, it would have died a long time ago. There is only one thing I can think of that *might* change that, but I don't see any evidence that happening on the horizon.

I had kept an eye on this forum for a while, but didn't create an account until Dylan was on the 2026 release thread.  My first post got a like from Jeff and was quoted by him, starting with "Couldn't agree more."
So today I had to call out his bubble just like I did Dylan's about some of the -ahem- improvements.  Dylan engaged respectfully in the conversation about breaking things when adding new features.  Jeff responded with the bird.  It's all good fun and we learn stuff along the way.
