Hell yea. That sounds like it will be great! Even more reason to get your hands on a Blackwell GPU...

Wonder what release it will be part of? And will it be MachSim only, or verify as well?

Jeff

Coming soon as a paid add-on to Mastercam.

I didn't want to doom and gloom on the first reply, lol. But it was my first thought

Verify has never been my bottleneck when programming a part in mastercam.

Will this help with Stock model calculation as well?
Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Stealing some info from the MW announcement page, since then I'm confident I'm not spoiling a surprise-

"GPU Simulation will be incorporated into the next Mastercam release, planned for early 2026."

There will be a mid-cycle release to get this into people's hands. This affects Verify/Simulation performance.

I'm wondering about this from a technical standpoint. You would think that verify needs to be linearly processed from beginning to end because each move relies on the past moves to check for that collision so what are they actually parallel processing? Just the final result?

Lots of us thought that back in the day when Mcam announced multi-thread processing and i still remember being amazed by the fact that when regenerating all ops, many subsequent operations would blast through regeneration and sit finished, waiting, for the primary roughing path to finish calculating....

I wonder how this is going to effect current owners of Postability Machine Sim's

Under the new regime, Postability posts and machine sims have become much more costly.
There is Postcare maintenance, which is not mandatory, but if you don't have it, there is no service.
In addition, if you have machine sims, you must pay an annual fee for the license. Don't pay, no license,
no machine sim.
I'm guessing this new improved machine sim is going to come with a new improved price  :(

My employer has 5 machine sims licensed for their net hasp.
Historically, Dave provided me with licenses for my personal sim and that carried forward after he passed, until this year. They cut me off this year unless I want to purchase licenses for my hasp.

And each year the product needs update after update in order for it to be useable.
No hotfixes for broken shit, we have to wait months for a fix and hope that it's in the first update.
Shit that has been a mess for years remains either on the back burner or tossed into the garbage can never to be seen again.
I don't see how this competes with fusion or any other cad/cam software.
If they truly wanted to compete, it's not rocket science. Stop releasing garbage.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

I would love to think, that you at least, at the VERY least, got a lovely worded email explaining....

ModuleWorks, a leading provider of CAD/CAM software components for the manufacturing industry, has announced the upcoming launch of its new GPU-accelerated simulation technology. This innovation leverages graphics processing units (GPUs) to significantly speed up machining simulations, particularly for large and complex 3-axis and 5-axis parts. The technology promises performance improvements of up to 10 times faster than traditional CPU-based simulations, based on benchmarks using hardware like an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. By accelerating toolpath verification from minutes to seconds, it aims to shorten programming cycles, enhance workflow efficiency, and boost overall job throughput in computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) environments.

The launch partners for this technology are Sandvik's Cimatron and Mastercam, two prominent CAM software solutions owned by Sandvik, making them the first commercial platforms to integrate ModuleWorks' GPU Simulation. This partnership highlights collaborative efforts to rapidly adopt advanced tech in the industry. As noted by ModuleWorks' founder and managing director, Dr. Yavuz Murtezaoglu, "Our strong partnership with Sandvik and their Cimatron and Mastercam brands demonstrates how collaboration can accelerate the adoption of new technologies." Sandvik's CTO for Intelligent Manufacturing, Magnus Malmström, emphasized the practical benefits: "By harnessing the massive GPU-accelerated simulation through, e.g. NVIDIA GPUs, we're cutting toolpath verification from minutes to seconds, enabling manufacturers to work faster, safer and more efficiently." Representatives from Mastercam and Cimatron also highlighted how this gives users a competitive edge in simulation speed and reliability.

The feature will debut in the next releases of both software packages. For Mastercam, it's slated for early 2026, while Cimatron's timeline aligns with its upcoming update. ModuleWorks plans to showcase the GPU Simulation at EMO Hannover 2025, from September 22–26, with live demonstrations in Hall 6, Booth B55, alongside Sandvik, Cimatron, and Mastercam teams. This event will offer hands-on experiences and interviews to demonstrate the technology's impact on CAM workflows.

Cimmatron... holy smokes! There's a blast from the past. I haven't seen a seat of that in the wild since the late 1990's.
