I wonder how many "amateur" fighters with a lot of fight experience will sign up. The difference between a trained/experienced fighter and the average person is huge. You see those videos with two untrained people just swinging wildly until someone lands a lucky haymaker. Then you see a video when one of them is trained/experienced and it is a completely different fight.

I had a friend that was training to be a UFC fighter 10 or so years ago. I went and watched some of his amateur fights. It was almost comical how bad the fights were.

At the end of the night they would bring out the "main event" which was a couple of fighters who were less amateur? The difference was incredible.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

People love to argue about which martial art or fighting style is the best. IMO, the two biggest gaps in a fight are size and training/experience. When those are equal or reasonable, then which martial art or fighting style matters.

I have been consistently training MMA/BJJ/Wrestling about 5-10 hours a week for the last 6 years. I probably have more recent and consistent fight training than 99% of the population, but the one thing I will tell you for certain is if I don't know who the other person is, I'm doing everything I can to avoid a fight.

"Choke", the documentary about Gracie jujitsu and a tournament in Japan a bunch of years ago, has a lot to show about size and style.  The biggest guy gets put in an arm bar by the (nearly blinded) littlest guy, picks him up to walk over to the ropes to tap out before he gets his elbow dislocated.  Size 0, technique 1.

I'm pretty sure he thinks carrots are the best (practice for giving the business to dicktators).

In that case experience/training won over size. However if you give someone with 100lb weight advantage a little grappling experience, the size now matters. Those are the real factors in a fight, size and experience/training.
