Quote from: Ron post_id=9899 time=1619035460 user_id=94I discovered DOGE back in November of last year. The price was around .0027somthing. Bought 1500 bucks worth. 537,000-ish coins. Sold it after a week or so when it wasn't moving very much.  20 to 50 dollar swings each day. Made a couple hundred bucks and moved on...

That was a day that I regret!!!

Ouch. I can relate. Sold stocks that a few years later were over 1,000%. Happens to the best of them..

back in the early .com days I bought 1000 shares of Apple at $7/share
I sold it at $11 a few month later and patted myself on the back for being a genius trader
Today that stock is worth somewhere north of 3/4 of a million dollars ... some genius

Yeah crypto works better as a long-term thing, but there's no doubt you can make money if a coin takes off.
Many people I know have spread their investments over many of the lesser coins, hoping one of them will take off like Bitcoin did.
I doubt that will ever happen, but it would be nice to see dollars returned for pennies invested on a few kinds of crypto coins.

You gotta "hodl" them!   :w00t:

Biden capital gains tax increase for wealthy the catalyst. At such lofty prices, it was inevitable. Question now is will the cryptos rally once again?

The question isn't if, the question is when...

Then wait and see a bit, John, and buy a little more.

I'm not a huge fan of dollar cost averaging. Not a great strategy buying more shares of a losing stock. However, this isn't about stocks. A completely different and emerging asset class.

Well,... if a good company's stock - trending higher on a longer-term chart - takes a hit lower (they all do at some point)...then dollar cost averaging may prove a good move.

My worry is, if you scan stocks there are many examples of a stock going from say $90 a share all the way down to $20 a share. If an investor is DCA'ing on the way down and buying more at $80, then say $65, then $50, etc. he/she is gonna take a substantial loss. It might takes years to get back to $90. It might never get back to that price.
