Hilarious that this guy has wrinkled the panties of more than a few uptight old nutters on this board. Even more hilarious is that those same nutters will overlook any and all transgressions of their sacred leader.

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on September 29, 2025, 10:06 PM"Guns" are not the problem. We've been killing each other with weapons since the dawn of time.

You could take away all the guns and we'd kill each other with knives. You could take away all the knives and we'd kill each other with hammers. You could take away all the hammers and we'd kill each other with bats. Youncoukd take away all the bats and we'd just go back to killing each other with rocks. If by some miracle you could manage to take all the rocks away, we're more than happy to kill each other with pens and paper. It's been done before. It'll be done again.

So, people can convince themselves into thinking an inanimate object is THE SOURCE of the all of society's ills, but the real problem is in the mirror. Each and every one of us has the capacity and the means to take a life. We can deny it all we want, but facts are facts.

If people are not happy with the 2nd Amendment,  call for a Constitutional Amendment. Abolish it. Just remember what happened when they outlawed likka. That gave birth to the mafia. I shudder to think of what happens if they abolish the 2nd Amendment.

:coffee:

  Yep, humans been knockin' each other with rocks since we stood up, and creatively inventing fancier more effective ways to kill each other ever since.  There is some irony to be had in the fact that the most rapid advances in science and medicine often happen during times of war.
  But there is one small issue that comes from guns specifically, or at least to a far greater degree than anything (other than vehicles we drive) else that an individual is likely to wield.  Projectile velocity and distance, and the collateral damage that can be caused.  If some lunatic goes on a stabbing rampage in a bus or some other place, the only damage he can cause is within arm's reach.  If some primitive lunatic goes on a rock-bashing escapade, it still comes down to how far he can throw it.  Spears, then slings, then cross-bows obviously up the range and lethality, but having single shot and significant reload time still gives the ability for intended or unintended victims to react with flight or fight.  Those projectiles also have a tendency to be stopped or significantly slowed by walls and windows.  But the gun uniquely has evolved to be long range high velocity and rapid repeat projectiles, often ending in 'friendly fire' or 'innocent bystander' injury or death.  How many times have you seen on the news of folks having strays come thru the walls of their apartments, and occasionally the headline is "3-yr-old killed while playing with toys on the floor at grandma's" or some equivalent tragedy.
  Not saying there shouldn't be guns or that responsible folks shouldn't be able to have/use them responsibly.  But I will say that of the people I know with accidental discharge tales of luck and not tragedy, they consider themselves to be responsible gun owners.  And the folks I know that don't own guns don't have stories of having a bullet ricochet around their garage, or go thru the coffee table and then thru the floor of their house.
  Probably just a coincidence though.

What should happen to someone who is caught with an illegal gun, or is convicted of a gun crime? (ie armed robbery, carjacking, etc) I'm wondering where you fall on cashless bail, or people who get back out on the streets after gun crime.

I think a better job keeping violent criminals off the streets and away from the public is a goal we can agree on.

Bail should be proportional to income or net worth (obvoiously also varying with severity/danger of crime).  I feel the same about traffic fines and about registration/insurance.  A $200 speeding ticket is going to mean a lot more to the minimum wage guy then the CEO.  And if you're driving a Lambo and I'm in a Kia, even if it's my fault I don't think I should have to come up with six figures to fix your car - you made the choice to put that thing on the road with the other idiots.

 Innocent until proven guilty.

This is what the dude that should not even be in this country is accused of, and what he's already been convicted of.

The DHS detailed a list of all the charges and convictions against illegal alien Ian Andre Roberts, who was working as the head of Des Moines, Iowa... after a "bacgrround check" was performed.

His immigration and criminal history reveals a long record of conduct in the US that SHOULD have prevented not only his presence but his hiring in the public sector.

He is currently facing illegal weapons possession charges among other things.

The DOJ said a search warrant of Roberts' home uncovered three guns;
1) a loaded and chambered 9mm pistol underneath a seat cushion in the living room
2) a loaded rifle was found in the master bedroom closet
3) a shotgun was found behind the master bedroom headboard

Roberts was previously convicted of;
1) reckless driving unsafe operation and speeding in Maryland in 2012.
2) In Pennsylvania of unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in 2022.

Roberts also has charges of
1) criminal possession of narcotics with intent to sell
2) criminal possession of narcotics
3) criminal possession of a forgery instrument
4) possession of a forged instrument in New York dating back to 1996
5) charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
6) third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
7) fourth-degree weapon charges in 2020.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, its civil division
1) served Roberts a sealed restraining order from Jackson County, Missouri, in August 2023.

DEFINITELY a Democrat voter.
