It didn't work for Carter or Nixon.

As time goes on, Nixon's legacy is bringing China intonthe fray of world political influence. Had he not engaged in "Ping Pong Diplomacy" they would not be the threat they are today... well him and Killary's husband.  :coffee:

Carter, Carter, Carter. Wonderful and exceptional human being.  Atrotious POTUS for policies and handling of the Iran Hostage crisis.

Carter, I DO give him props for being the reason stealth aircraft exist. It was during his administration that the F-117 was developed.  He chose to fall on his sword for killing the B1 project and not breathing a word about the F-117 project. Reagan attacked him for killing the B1.... because he didn't know about the 117. He wasn't yet cleared to know about it's existence let alone it's operational capabilities.  Nobody would know those until Gulf War I.

FDR... he's the POTUS that haunts the Federal Budget to this day. His creation of Social Security will cost this nation TRILLIONS of dollars, and may very well cost us our future as a nation.

That said, he and Truman got us out of WWII without having to learn German or Japanese... unless we want to.

an alternate view would say he got us into WW2.
his isolationist policies certainly eased the rise of the Japanese Empire and his hands off approach with European affairs emboldened Hitler.

From the article:

Quote"I authorized for two reasons really," Trump said. "Number one, they have emptied their prisons into the United States of America...they came in through the border. They came in because we had an open border," he told reporters in the Oval Office. "And the other thing are drugs," Trump said.

Too funny. Trump clearly knows that he can keep spouting lie after lie because there are plenty of people stupid enough to believe him.

I personally would not elaborate to the press either. They are going to cherry pick quotes, mis-characterize a position, quote "... unnamed sources not authorized to comment on the matter..." who may or may not actually be "in the know" about the subject at had.

Personally, I don't like "the mainstream media" being on the outs with a POTUS. It should be an adversarial relationship, but not a contentious one. They shouldn't be buddy buddy, but they also should not be spending every waking moment trying to destroy the man either.

All of that said, it is a condition or state the MSM are 100% responsible for. They have proven time and time again they cannot be trusted wjth anything tegarding this POTUS. It's not even a matter of them having  a negative impression, it's a matter of them loathing his very existence on this planet.

That's a fair assessment as well.

"Europe" reminds me of Los Angeles homeless community. They allow their "community" to become a complete disaster, refuse to clean up the small messes, then cry when it becomes intolerable.

I don't want us to be the "world police", but I don't want China or Russia to be it either. Quite the dichotomy.

You know that's 100% fixable by eliminating the cutoff for high earners.

I wonder where our current retirees would be without Social Security, and even more, where our future retirees would be.

According to YoDoug, most people will be living on UBI's in the not so distant future anyway?   :D

Quote from: beej on October 16, 2025, 07:38 AMThat sort of confirms something that I've been thinking about lately. There will come a time, when no one will remember Trump's personality, or his mean tweets, or they will only know what he did and didn't do. They most likely won't even remember what he tried to do, just what he did. I have a feeling that history will look at him with favor but it will take some time.

This country will benefit greatly from all Trump has done and will do. Most likely not until he's out of office.

There are some people who are benefiting greatly from Trumps policy, that's for sure.

When people say that they think the Country is going to benefit from all Trump has done, I wonder what that's based on?
