Is that in the beta forum? I am not seeing it....

It's a new subforum that those who are in the technical preview program can access.

As someone who had to deal with JB on the Solid Edge forums early on in my CAD career, I am hoping to avoid references to said individual.  ;D

In the same manner that I could be a weatherman if I predicted rain sometime in the next month.

To be fair....unspoken name didn't always have terrible ideas. His way of presenting said ideas really needed some polishing.

I have never heard anyone else mention having seat time with Solid Edge! I used it for about 6 years at the VERY beginning of my CAD/CAM life, ST7-ST10 we had, so 2014-2020. I still remember it fondly, it was an incredibly intuitive and powerful design package. I was learning the basics of engineering and CAD simultaneously at that shop, and the training was pretty good too from our reseller. Good times driving that Steering Wheel around.

I found Mastercam to be a very easy jump from there, methodology, modelling and controls-wise.

I did a lot of cool work with that package, mostly complex sheet metal assemblies which it shined at. Automation was pretty simple and we got to a point where the quoting to cad to laser workflow was largely hands-off.

I have never worked anywhere with sheet metal, but I recall that part of the training was pretty cool. I did part thru top level assembly design with it. Made a really great set of mechanisms, and used the wire harness design to model brake cables and hydraulic lines to great success. And the FEA was cool too for frame design, learned a helluva lot, and got some real work done. Wish I could get my hands on the HASP we ran, I have the old PC at home and the files, but it kind of sits there without the license!

Shameless plug to please please please join the technical preview program if you are comfortable with spending some time to look at early software and give us your thoughts. You can use the Contact Us form to ask for permission to join the program. If you have any trouble with getting permissions please reach out to me directly.

And of course, this year there's a little more than the regular Tech Preview releases to test...  :)
