I belong to that group.
Racism comes in all colors.

If so, ask them if they've ever been attacked, verbally or otherwise, because they're brown.

I'd bet a very large percentage of those people will answer in the affirmative....

One of my best friends is black, but I feel like it shouldn't count because it's a she, and she is a smoking hot black girl with blue eyes. I met her about 20 years ago, and I've never seen anyone being disrespectful to her. Well, other than the constant attempts to get down her pants.

I have a friend who is 6'7 and black. I've never seen anyone who's had the balls to say anything shitty to him, either. That also might not count?  

We had a group of about 20 people that did a lot of off-roading 20 years ago. We had several black friends mixed in to our group. We would all spend Memorial weekend in the Little Naches area of the Cascades camping and jeeping. Memorial weekend was a huge offroading weekend so there would be 100's, maybe 1000's of people camping and offroading.  I thought that the whole "black people don't camp" was a stereotype. We saw a lot of blank stares like these rednecks had never seen a black person in the woods before, but I never saw anyone being harassed for being black up there.

The west side of Washington State, especially in the greater Seattle area, is pretty diverse-friendly, so I'm not sure my experience can be used as a benchmark. The gated community I live in, white is the minority.
