Isn't Argentina a US ally?

Officially, yes. However that doesn't mean they act in the best interest of both nations. We have many allies that want Biden era disproportionate trade and relations. If the leadership of any country starts acting in ways that are beneficial to both America and their country then we should reassess our trade deals with them.

"In all my years here and on the old forum I have heard, and likely said, some pretty unhinged stuff. But congrats, you're the new leader in clubhouse."  - ghuns, 6/06/2025

Well, in this case, it's all about propping up their economy. I'm not sure what the US gets out of it other than beef with no tariff for US consumers.

they have the world's 3rd highest Lithium reserves, so there is that. It seems worth our while to have a relationship.

:coffee:
There's a HUGE push to do this in the UK at the moment - especially as the gov has implemented new tax "rules/laws" for handing-down farms to children....aka the tax liability is now so high it cannot practically be done, so the farms will get sold off.
Also, the HUGE push to change said farm land, into fields and fields and fields of solar power farms....

Net Zero! Net Zero!

As in zero reliability of the grid and zero availability of electricity... And now zero kilos of food produced in the UK. What a masterstroke of societal control. Just did some reading/listening about the blackouts earlier this year, and the roles of renewables, pretty wild stuff.

UK leading the way again, with not only food being marked with "your daily carbon allowance", but now NatWest banksters are defaulting their app to track your carbon use.
Oh...but it's all a conspiracy....
