lol @ the UN calling for Trump to stop bombing drug boats.

And speaking of the UN, that moron Chicago Mayor asked the UN to step in and stop ICE from nabbing illegal immigrants.

You can't make this shit up!

I think that it's safe to say that we don't really know what's going on inside of our own government. We only know what they tell us.

I'm curious why it's so important to the US to "fix" Venezuela? I'm still waiting to see any kid of proof that fentanyl is coming out of that Country so it's hard for me to believe that is the real reason.

It has nothing to do with Venezuela.  (Except we're still mad about that communist Chavez, and of course whatever it was that they supposedly did to our voting machines in 2020 that was totally made up, got the MyPillow guy cancelled, cost Fox news lies nearly a billion dollars and got Fucker Carlson fired.)

This is a classic redirect, most recently straight out of Putin playbook.  Have shitty shit going on domestically and need a distraction for the media/sheeple - start bombing the s#!t out of somewhere else so it fills up the news until the next - SQUIRREL - comes along.

Well, at least we have you on the inside to keep us up to date

I think that Venezuela has been in Marco Rubio's crosshairs for a long time. This has more that "we're going to put a US friendly leader" Iran style regime change feel to it under the cover of combatting drugs. What could possibly go wrong.

Yeah that always works out well, like with the Mujahideen.

1) Not a single one of us (myself included) knows anything about what is going on in Venezuela's Government, military, or it's leadership.
2) Not a single person that has penned an article knows any more about it than any of us do.

It's nothing more than rage bait.

I can see two or three things that may pique our government's interest. Narcotics interdiction, Oil, human migration through Venezuela.

The CIA needs to control the flow of narcotics so they can get their cut. They don't need to answer to congress for that money. All wars have at least a small component of resources to them.

After a little digging -

For the tldr; It has nothing to do with drugs and is all about the oil and US investment/interests

"Venezuela is a minor transit point for illegal drugs entering the United States, with most US-bound illegal drugs originating elsewhere, particularly Colombia and Mexico. According to recent US reports and counterdrug databases"

Venezuela's Maduro Offered the U.S. His Nation's Riches to Avoid Conflict Venezuela's autocrat had proposed allocating his country's oil wealth and other natural resources to the U.S. and ending deals with American adversaries to appease President Trump.

Trump Weighs Options, and Risks, for Attacks on Venezuela President Trump has yet to make a decision, but his advisers are pressing a range of objectives — from attacking drug cartels to seizing oil fields — to try to justify ousting Nicolás Maduro.

QuoteExclusive / As Trump pressures Venezuela, investors see 'major opportunities'

https://www.semafor.com/article/11/03/2025/as-trump-pressures-venezuela-investors-see-major-opportunities

"During last month's IMF-World Bank meetings in Washington, Barclays organized a private meeting to talk investment opportunities with Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, two sources familiar with the meeting told Semafor.

The meeting was widely attended by investment firms, hedge funds, and others interested in future business in Venezuela, said Rafael de la Cruz, the director of the US office of Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia, who is recognized by the US as the winner of the last Venezuelan election. The opposition leader's team has also held "informal conversations" with the World Bank, IMF, and Inter-American Development Bank about Venezuela's future, de la Cruz said."

"The uptick in intrigue comes as the Trump administration continues to amass military assets in the region and develop potential plans for further action in Venezuela. While administration officials have avoided overtly saying their goal is regime change — Trump has focused his public remarks on fighting drug cartels — the ultimate goal of democratizing Venezuela, and the resulting investment benefits, are front and center in investors' minds.

Venezuelans currently operate in a cash economy, with its oil production affected by US sanctions that Trump tightened, and the country lacks everything from independent newspapers to Amazon and Starbucks. In addition to its oil reserves, UBS cited Venezuela's "fertile soil" and notes it occupies a prime location "to develop as a transportation hub for the Americas and Europe.""
