Tennessee sheriff defends jailing liberal activist for posting Trump meme

Wondering if anyone has followed this story at all?  This seems pretty f-n crazy to me and makes me think that I would never move to Tennessee.

Also, I don't know if this is a shared experience, but the auto-feed for me next on channel 5 was "whites-only community in Tennessee" with the sub heading "he thinks Hitler was right. Now he wants a Whites-only community in Tennessee".  So, there's that.

I don't think this was done out of ignorance. It seems very deliberate and is meant to send a very clear message.

I just got back from eastern TN on Sunday. My wife's dad lives there. It is where my wife and I want to retire. I like southern living much better than MN. However nobody should be jailed for any speech, post, etc. that is not a clear threat of harm.

I don't agree with jail, but I would agree with Billy Bob and Bubba taking him out back for a beatin.
It was extremely distasteful, and made to look like Trump said that about a school shooting.
