Just finished putting together my 1990's era GT BMX Power Series race bike. Promised my oldest grandson we'd go riding at the local pump track next time teh wifey and I go down to SoCal.

Frame: GT BMX Power Series (Alum)
Fork: Marzocchi Sinister (Alum)
Headset: FST Pig
Wheels: Araya 7x
Hubs: Suzue Sealed low profile (may swap for a set of Bullseye's next year)
Cranks: Profile Racing 175mm (CroMo)
Bottom Bracket: Theory Sealed
Pedals: Shimano DX Clipless
Seat: GT Racing
Seat Post: GT Racing (Alum)
Seat Post Clamp: GT Racing (Alum)
Bars: GT Racing (CroMo)
Brakes: Shimano Deore

I need to weigh it... my best guess ATM is ~18lbs.

I've been wanting to get back into racing. Not because I have any delusions of winning or to relive the "glory days"... I wasn't fast or glorious BITD I'm certainly not fast or glorious now. Just looking for some fun exercise in addition to the skiing and rock climbing.

We weren't really into BMX growing up somehow, but I gotta say that I think that bicycles might just be one of mankind's greatest inventions! It's always kinda chapped my hide that they're largely considered "toys" here in the States....

Just moved from Spain after 7 years to Cyprus.
Couldn't bring my lovely old 1970 Triumph 500 trophy as I never formally imported it so "the system couldn't handle it" - I had to return it to UK (country of origin) and a mate sold it for me
But I could bring the not-a-Sportster and am 90% through transferring it onto Cyprus plates.
Passed all the hoops of immigration and bank forensic tests - the only thing they never asked for was blood!
Bought a Suzuki Ignis hybrid for wifey as it's higher ground clearance for all the speed humps and shite roads - she wanted another Abarth but the humps would have flattened the exhaust in a fortnight....
Ebikes - had to throw away the batteries as we couldn't ship them here - hazardous waste - so I have to source them at a good price (looking difficult on this small island) - the whole oxymoron of course is "hazardous waste" yet thousands of electric scooters are shipped in from China daily
Just....gotta buy a home now, where in the first 3 months of this year resale jumped 7% and newbuilds 30.... :Ineedamoneyprinter:

There's an insane amount of technology in bicycles these days... very few even realize it. Toys... very expensive toys.

I love the Atherton bikes concept - 3D printing titanium lugs and bonding carbon tubes into - real easy to prototype and change things (obviously we know that!)

Hey Apps guy (or anybody else) if you want to ski Snowbasin, home of the Olympic downhill, I'd be happy to show you around. But only on weekdays cause weekends are too crowded and my pass is only good on weekdays.

Besides time at BJJ training, I have really been focusing on how I can maximize my contributions to my retirement for the next decade, hopefully. I use AI everyday at work and I see where this is going. I hope I am wrong, but the future does not look good for anyone that doesn't have high investments. The ability to just work and make a good living is going to be difficult in the near future. I have been focusing on a few areas.

1. downsizing and getting rid of anything that can be turned into $. Anything that we really don't need or use that can be turned into $20, $50, $100, etc. I have been selling on Marketplace and putting into my Fidelity accounts. Plus when we do finally move south it will be way less crap to have to move or get rid of.

2. Working staying current with tech, specifically AI and how I can leverage that for more income.

3. I have started working on getting some contract work again on the side, automation stuff and MFG or MES software for small shops that can't afford huge software packages but could benefit from custom tailored solutions. Have few people interested, just need to get them to make the commitment.

Now that all my Soros money has dried up I'm just working more, but I'm salary so the math ain't working out 😬

Planning a Japan trip next year, hopefully scotland & Ireland.  Trying to pack some activity in since the wife has been doing really good.

For audio guys I built a stereo compressor on the weekend - 12 hours of straight soldering was technically "you can build it in a day" but ow

The g/f and I want to go to Japan next year at some point. We haven't got the plans worked out yet but it's going to be a family trip with her mom, sister, daughter, and me if they let me come.   :D
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I'm in the middle of putting up a pole barn. I bought a lathe and am snooping around for a mill. Want to start out doing some stuff on the side in the evenings and see where things go.

When my son in law completes his year in Turkey he will be stationed in Okinawa for four years, along with my daughter and 2 boys, of course.

My wife keeps talking about how much she's looking forward to visiting Japan. I keep telling her that Okinawa is significantly different than Japan.
