That does sound like fun.

I'll bet 30 birds of that size jumping up size was pretty cool to see. Or for that matter a big flock of quail too. I haven't seen that in decades!

To give you an idea of what we were doing, 6 guys walking a corner of a field with center pivot irrigation. You start at one end close together and spread out as you get to the middle and then narrow back down at the other end. The straight sides of the corner are 1/2 mile long.

When we started, 3 roosters jumped way out in the middle and flew away. We were like, fuck. We kept walking and kept the two dogs close to us. When we were about 50' from the end, a single rooster jumped and I nailed it. I walked over and picked him up then went back to my spot in line. Our guide said, there are more in here, lets just stand here a minute and make them nervous.

When he told us to walk again, we all took a single step and those birds ALL jumped at once.
