True, It was the middle of the day in the middle of the week.
She should have been at work or home with her kid.
Instead she chose to spend her day harassing and impeding law enforcement who were legally performing their duties.
I'm not saying she deserved to be shot, but she made poor decisions and engaged in risky and illegal behavior.
It ended badly for her. She played stupid games and won the ultimate stupid prize.

Quote from: jstell on January 08, 2026, 12:34 PMThat doesn't really work out as well for some folks as it might for you.

From my personal experience, when things went badly it was because the person in question
was screaming at officers, threating officers or refusing to cooperate.

Or the cops just felt like being thugs that day.  Or they were lied to before making contact and had no interest in taking an impartial view of what was actually unfolding in front of them.  Or they're just paranoid and decide to shoot first and ask questions later.  Or they are lacking training and self confidence and just get jumpy and panic at the first sight of a cell phone or candy bar in someone's hand and know they'll probably get cleared so what the hell let's play cowboy.
I have first hand heard a cop talking about being assigned extra duty for planned protests describing it as babysitting, to keep them on the sidewalks "and if they set foot in the street then it's time to knock some hippie heads."
So it's not like they're prejudiced or anything.

Quote from: Zoffen on January 08, 2026, 12:37 PMPlease explain how COMPLYING with police when they ask you to get out of the car, is a BAD idea?
If the cops are already mad instead of just doing their job professionally.  And especially if you are not white.

Your straw man is on fire.

So if you think the cop is "mad", you resist and/or run?

Wouldn't this give them the perfect excuse to do something?

What if the cop was Black and I'm black? Should i act differently?

I think @jstell needs to go on a few ridealongs with some local LEO to see what reality really is....

Just like Charlie Kirk right? Maybe nothing he was doing was illegal, but if the metric is he brought it on himself, I'd say that fits.

Don't forget, black cops are racist too.  Sometimes more so, even if only an act to fit in with the good ol' boys.

I'm not saying that the end result is going to be better if you try to run or fight.  I'm just saying that in the same way the cops might let their emotions and predispositions get the better of them, the citizen has a legitimate fear for their life that might also cloud their judgement.

So your advice to people when a LEO asks you get out of the vehicle is what then?

Its insane you can compare the two things.

She brought it on herself by ACTIVELY INTERFERING WITH LEO.

She made the choice to travel from her home and do this.

She could have stayed home with her family. That was always an option. But because her brain was rotted out by PHSYCOSIS she decided that it was a better option to FAFO.

I'm sure she is exactly the same as a guy who goes to colleges and gives microphones to people he disagrees with.

Don't get in that situation in the first place.

And also, the cops could maybe stand to be on less of a power trip.  They aren't always correct when they think they are.  And thinking you are correct when you are not is the surest way to stay wrong.

Once had the experience of at least four cops coming into a bar to get a guy out of the bathroom after he had kicked out a window of a (closed-for-the evening) shop up the street.  One 160-lb junkie washing his foot in the toilet, and as they're muscling him back past the bar one young guy sitting there happened to turn to see what the commotion was and bumped one of the cops.  His ass was on the floor so fast he had no idea what hit him.  Put him in the hospital, charged him with interfering with official duties, assault on an officer, and resisting arrest (because he was confused as to why he had ended up on the floor).  If I recall, he won the case against himself and also a lawsuit against the police, because they were scared pussies who decided to go full thug on a random bystander.  The funniest was that by the time they got those two guys in the backseats, there were like twenty more cops there and the whole block was clogged up with cop cars.  They decided they also had the right to close down the bar for the rest of the night, formed a phalanx on the sidewalk and made everyone walk the one way up the sidewalk.  If you were parked or lived in the other direction, too bad, you can go around the block.  Just a power trip, no public safety being protected.  Just cops as the agressors.

Seems like that would have been good advice for the woman who was killed.

Sounds pretty much the same to me, except the provoking the cops part.

Sounds like you're exactly correct.  Just a citizen out there espousing views and acting on them, in a way that someone with a gun found unpalatable.
