Quote from: beej on January 09, 2026, 12:01 PMAbortion became legal in 1973. There are millions of middle aged white guys who do not exist because of abortion, so there is that.

Ahhh...so your morals dictate who you protest or support. Same thing with the dead lesbian. Her morals, right or wrong, are (were) different than yours. Who knows. Maybe she was an anti abortion/pro illegal alien person.

There are many independent baptist churches that belong to no conference. I went to one as a child. Glenville Baptist in Wichita.

Quote from: beej on January 09, 2026, 12:10 PMmaybe true, and probably is true, but you asked why it's hot now but less so under obama. that's why. The news media that trends to the left have a specific agenda and that is to convince us that Trump is racist, anti-american, stupid, and evil. Every single news story about Trump from any media left of center has at least one of those 4 elements in them. compare that to the same organizations narrative on Obama, that he was Heroic, virtuous, above reproach, and Presidential. And every story about Obama had at least one of those elements in it.  cue the crazy emoji in 3..2...1

It's ok beej, I'm sure there's a Fox station close enough to lie to you so you can maintain your sheltered worldview.

I never said that. All life is sacred in my view.

my first post in this thead:

QuoteI feel the same about this as I did about Ashley Babbitt. I hated that she got shot but at the same time, she put herself that situation. And when federal agents tell you to get out of the car, driving away when there is an agent standing in front of your car, is a disastrous decision. Then, at the same time he was out of harms way by the time he pulled the trigger.

I hate that this happened.

Quote from: mowens on January 09, 2026, 12:04 PMNo matter where you stand on this issue, I can easily see the ubiquitous presence of ICE leading to violent opposition and not just some woman trying to get away from them in an SUV; I see the possibility of pitched battles.
The illegal immigration status quo over the last say 30 years gave illegals a certain sense of entitlement... they think they belong here and purple-hair Karen thinks so too. They do not legally have a leg to stand on, so, we have mayhem. :coffee:

Sucks, because as a sovereign nation, we have THE RIGHT to allow and disallow whomever we want. If we want to exclude people with face tattoos, or people with low-skill/no-skill, it is completely within our right. We are under no obligation whatsoever to allow them to remain here at our expense. Round up enough people, make it uncomfortable enough, turn off the gravy train (free healthcare, SNAP, free education, etc...), codify that no anchor babies will be granted citizenship, and the majority will return to where they came from. We have not made it uncomfortable enough yet for them. Does it suck? Yes. 100%. Kids are going to suffer, and that's the REALLY messed up part of this situation. Kids that had no say, but that will pay the price. We have allowed these illegals to remain here and start lives, create families, and be part of communities with impunity. The cold harsh reality is these people have to go. As a nation, we cannot afford them.

I voted for someone to remove them, they should be removed by any means necessary. Leave voluntarily, and they can come back after they follow the process. If we have to forcibly remove them, they can NEVER come back. Their choice.

Phone footage, you can see in his reflection. The twitter post saying "could not be clearer" and then what you see is she turns her wheels away from him and then the phone points up at the sky, ... clear wouldn't be what I call that. What definitely couldn't see is anyone's life being threatened

When ICE agents come for the guns of the left, will you all defend them?

AI on use of lethal force. take it for what it's worth:

A police officer is generally permitted to use deadly force, including shooting a suspect, when they have a reasonable belief that the suspect poses an imminent threat of death or serious physical harm to the officer or another person, not solely when the officer's own life is threatened [1].

This standard is based on the legal concept of "reasonable belief" and the "totality of the circumstances," which means the officer's actions are judged based on what a reasonable officer would do in the same situation [1]. The Supreme Court case Graham v. Connor established the "objective reasonableness" standard, which is widely used to evaluate the constitutionality of a law enforcement officer's use of force [1].
Key factors considered include:

Whether the suspect is posing an immediate threat to the safety of officers or others [1].
Whether the suspect is actively resisting arrest or attempting to evade arrest by flight [1].
The severity of the crime at issue [1].

Therefore, while an officer's life being threatened is a common scenario, the legal standard is broader, encompassing the protection of the public and other officers from serious harm [1].

also in that that cell cam video if you pause the video at :40 seconds. you see her eyes open wide, her mouth tightens in a look of determination and she runs hits him, all while her mate is trying to get into the car.

he made a split second decision, but so did she.

That is an accurate synopsis of "use of force" with regard to the legality of such use based on what I read in Graham V. Connor (1989 ).

A person's claim of "excessive force" by LE during an arrest, stop, or other method of detainment of an individual is subject to the "reasonableness" standard based in the Fourth Amendment rather than a substantive due process standard based on the Fourteenth Amendment. Essentially this, the facts and circumstances related to the use of force should drive the analysis, rather than the intent or motivation by the officer who used force.
