and I'd bet the CA numbers are low by a huge margin.
In my neighborhood, half the women in the grocery stores were paying for their food with SNAP cards
and loading the groceries into high end luxury cars.

Yup, half of them. Into high end luxury cars.  ::)

This is an example of a researched, documented, evidenced based belief that Trumptards, and Republicunts in general, use to support their misinformed, hateful, and bigoted views of a world that terrifies them.

Tell us gcode, is their preferred vehicle still the Escalade?

There's a food bank run by the church in my neighborhood.  Been doing for at least the 20+ years I've been there.  Really ramped up in 2020.  They were doing it 2 or 3 days a week for a couple years.  Back to only Tuesdays. A couple cars'll be lined up by the time I leave for work, so they're camped out for over 3 hours til it actually  starts moving.  By an hour before they're lined up down the block and around the corner.  Sometimes completely back around the block.
The mix of cars is pretty broad, reasonably representative of what you see on the road throughout the city.  I too do a doubletake when that variety includes stuff like a merc gla250, but I guess 5-10 year old they can be had for $15-20k.  And If I just got laid off and had a car that was paid for and reliable, the first thing on my mind wouldn't be "I should trade this in on a clapped-out explorer" I'd be looking to have something I already trusted because I certainly don't need any more hassle right now.
