Ok!
But i do long for the past, where life was simpler and a lot more strait forwards.
Not necessarily easier, but certainly simpler.
With better quality goods, food, and above all standards.

What i do struggle with, is media drama, psyops, and the whole "electronic bullshit".
Example - we have been hounded by one of our banks (HSBC) but it's "for our safety". They have threatened to lock my account, until yesterday after a 30 minute phone "interview".
Wifey has her second one next week, and that's after completing 10 page form online using their "secure portal".... which when clicked, opened their "partner" adobe portal, and before proceeding, there was the option to accept, or decline, where decline cancelled everything.
There was also a "settings" box to click, which then opened up into adobe "partners" listing a crap-ton that went on and on, but you could not opt out of anything.
Front page was "accept to continue".
It was purely data profiling of us under the guise of security.
If you look-up HSBC and how many bill they've been fined for supporting/funding trafficking etc read their total history of where they were founded etc - interesting.
But this is for our safety and to help prevent money laundering.
Repeat - have a look at their history

Anyway, i did argue with the very nice Indian call centre gal who told me it was all in my best interest because Cyprus is on the dodgy-money list - my arguement being Spain bank told us the same (they flatly refused to allow us to transfer our money from Spain to Cyprus) yet "EuroPeon Union, SEPA banking approval" yada yada.
Honestly - all is cool. I just despise all the bullshit.
But just you wait for 20+ years and you'll also be longing for today....

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on April 01, 2026, 11:28 AMThe poorest among us in here are probably in the top 10% of wage earners on the planet (if you make $50k a year, you are in that category).

Are you sure that's still accurate?  I remember it being accurate a decade ago.

QuoteFor individual income, a good current estimate for the top 10% in the U.S. is about $149,000 to $173,000 a year.

If you want a single number, I'd use around $150,000 per year as the rough cutoff for an individual.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

QuoteFrom its earliest days, it has been involved in the international narcotics trade. It was founded in the wake of the British victories in the Opium Wars...
London established a colony in Hong Kong in 1865, where HSBC was created by a Scottish merchant specializing in the opium trade— the basis of 70% of Hong Kong trade with the Indies.

Yep. Never trust a bankster.
But we're getting profiled, for "our safety"....
Meanwhile, they're getting fined billions for their conduct/working

Edit - I've just received an email from them telling me to complete the 10 page same format online form that wifey previously completed - this was after my 30 minute interrogation interview :more fkin

I guess you're right.

The conversations we had about this in the past, we weren't talking about 'the world'.  I remember them because I was involved in them.

It would be strange to give a shit about Countries that you have "no skin in the game"?  :D
