Quote from: YoDoug on April 30, 2026, 01:22 PMNope, Gas prices here were higher in 2012 than in 2008. In 2012 I was driving a suburban, Gas was $4+ a gallon. I remember it costing nearly $170 to fill up. Luckily at the time I was working for the machine tool dist so that gas was on their dime, not mine.
Interesting...

We are both statistically correct, depending on monthly or yearly price averages.  2012 was highest year for price.  June and July 2008 were highest months.  And of course the caveat that these are inflation-adjusted national averages.  I'm sure there have been other localized spikes after severe weather and when refineries go off-line.

Quote from: YoDoug on April 30, 2026, 01:24 PMYou are correct, the Middle east BS is affecting gas prices. My point was is still under $4 here, in 2012 it was nearly $4.50 here. While it is close, you assessment of highest gas prices ever is not true.

I'll take that, it's the highest I've felt in California so haha, that's also on the dems here (and the incredible road quality those taxes pay for... yeah right)

Fastest price rise maybe?

Gas prices are another great example of hypocrisy and TDS from the left. Blue states generally have the highest gas prices because of their liberal tax/spend and environmental policies, never do you hear a lib criticize this. Yet when the price of crude oil goes up affecting gas prices it is all of the sudden every R in office fault.

Well it's not particularly hard to get - the relative price is up, and that sucks. If the price is only going up because of a war of choice perpetuated by the republicans, then yeah blame republicans.

No, just the idiot that started a new war in the middle east and put a stranglehold on the transport of 20% of world supply.

You guys just made my point. Again you blame it all on Orange man but nothing about the massive added costs from your blue states.

I'm actually pissed off about the repugs here blocking a gas tax increase.  It would only be about 10% of the 'war tax' we are all paying extra already.

But fuel tax from state to state is not that different.  +/-10 cents from 30, with a couple outliers.
https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/policyinformation/statistics/2020/pdf/mf205.pdf

Most of the difference in regional pricing comes from infrastructure, and maybe that's because of regulations on said infrastructure.  Some states have no refineries, and some even no or very limited pipelines and all/most of their fuel is barged in from elsewhere.

It's like you have to try to be this stupid obtuse in your justification of the current gas prices. Nobody here is defending, in your (parroted) words the "liberal tax and spend" 🙄 policies of the blue states. It is merely being pointed out that our current situation is 100% caused by a whimsical, illegal war started by Trump.

If you want to whine about blue states, start another thread. Surely it will popular, especially amongst the snowflakes who have fled these states for more ignorant comfortable surroundings.

A little info on gas prices. Crude oil costs at $105 barrel of oil translate to about $2.70 per gallon of gas. Before the Iran situation kicked off prices were about $77 a barrel equating about $1.90. That is about an $.8 increase in the cost of a gallon. Right now CA and other blue states are seeing Gas in the $6+ range. Whereas red states are in the $4 range. If you are outraged at $.80 increase from this war but are ok with $2 plus blue state addons, you probably have TDS.

The orange turd is deranged, started an undeclared war and doesn't drive, but is deranged.  Is that what you mean by TDS?  Or are you talking about his toothless spineless sycophants who are also deranged?

Toothless Drumpf Sycophants.  There's your TDS.

I'll happily pay a buck more a gallon to not live in the mind-waste middle of this country.

Gas was already expensive in blue states. He added $1 a gallon with this dumb war. What's hard for you to understand about that?
