metric vs standard designation on threadmills

I have another person program I am running the thread mills are not working out, after the 5th time I open the file and see that the thread mills are under the metric designation, so I say hey? they say doesn't matter because it's driven off of the threads per inch designation.

What is not working out?  If it's a pitch problem, that should be set on toolpath parameters for single form cutter, or by tool definition if multi-form, and it'll be greyed-out on in the toolpath parameters.

If multi-form, OD or ID?

If you use multiform (insert) designed for ID to cut OD thread, it'll cause problems.  Makes the minor small before you can get pitch diameter in tolerance.  (Don't ask me how I learned this.)

its an internal, three actually 1/4-24, 10-32, 8-32, internal multi form they say from tool and it was giving the wrong pitch .05" for all three, they had their HICUT parameters wrong, so I fixed that but still got weird threads they said it's a Mastercam glitch that was supposed to be set " from tool " but didn't give the right pitch settings so I opened the program and saw that they had the thread mills set to the metric designation instead of imperial they said it don't matter if its imperial or metric designation. just wondering where this "glitch " they got came from

If it is a multi-form then the thread pitch will come from tool, and the pitch on the cut parameters page will be greyed-out.
If it is a single form then you can change the thread pitch in cut parameters.  Make sure you lock it or it will try to revert to the pitch in the tool definition or operations defaults.
Metric or imperial shouldn't really matter as long as the math works.

Thank you for the reply, I am still wondering how we can get a .05" pitch from a multi form 3x that's defined correctly and the pitch was greyed out and all. Perhaps the tool was copied from say a 1/4-20 previously? and the pitch was already locked in ?

If it was created from imported geometry it might be stuck.
Otherwise. threads per inch should be right under the dropdown for selecting metric or imperial in the tool editor.  Is that field locked in tool editor as well?
