Ford hasn't revealed detailed specs for the Lightning yet, but the headline is clear: 563 horsepower, 775 pound-feet of torque, electronically controlled full-time four-wheel drive, 0-60 mph times in the mid 4-second range, 230- or 300-mile range, depending on which battery pack you pay for. Ford hasn't said how big the packs are yet, but around 90 kWh seems likely for extended range.

That's pretty quick, but you're not going to haul a boat up the Cajon  Pass to the Colorado River with one of these.

775Ft/Lbs of torque should be sufficient to do it.

Now, you might only have enough juice to do it once, but that's a different problem.

yeah those 'lectric jobs are no good on a blood moon, in the snow going uphill both ways, while towing Goliath through a mud hole. :harhar:

For you Kali guys looking forward to summertime brownouts, this could really be the EV for you. Or if you're just a cheap bastard, drive to the mall and charge your truck for free, come home and plug it in to power your house...

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric pickup that can power your house for days

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2022-ford-f-150-lightning-electric-pickup-intelligent-backup-power-house/">//https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2022-ford-f-150-lightning-electric-pickup-intelligent-backup-power-house/

QuoteThe F-150 Lightning can provide up to 9.6 kW of power output. According to Ford, that's more than enough to fully power a house at any one time, and considering the size of the battery, it could do that for at least three days (based on a daily average of 30 kWh)... Provided the Lightning is plugged in, Ford's Intelligent Backup Power system works automatically (though you can manually configure it if you prefer), switching on when there's an electrical interruption. It feeds power from the truck's prodigious battery pack back to the 80-amp, 240-volt home charger, then the juice gets routed to an inverter, which magically transforms it from DC to AC, and finally that sweet, sweet electricity gets routed to all the plugs, lights and appliances in your home. It's pretty neat stuff.

Later, the F-150 Lightning will also be able to power your house during the day when electricity rates are higher and then recharge overnight when the juice costs less. This has the potential to significantly reduce owners' electricity bills.

Nice, but how is this truck going to be supplying your homes energy needs when you have driven it to work?

Ford sells almost a million f-150s a year - those are numbers I wouldn't want to post up too hard against

So the senate committee is proposing $10k rebate (call it what you will) for EVs without a per manufacturer limit.
Commies are making an extra $2500 carve out for commie labor unions payoffs.

Seems to me Tesla is in a very unique position to take over the world with this catalyst.
Teslas are better than the legacy crap automaker in every way and incomparable in others. Change my mind......

Have seemed to have issues releasing new products & at scale. However, slowly releasing good things, not a bad thing. Everyone I know that has had a tesla has had many issues, but they've also had the issues resolved. There's tons of benefits.    I don't know what's going to happen.
