We're about to have to put a series of long narrow slots in some 110 copper plates.

The 'management' would like to do this on a cnc machine.  The slots are pretty narrow.  .03 wide, 3.3 long with a .03 spacing between and there are approx 30 per part.  Does anyone know if they possible make a modular type cutter that you could machine multiple slots at once in these things?

I should probably add that the max diameter of the cutter is 1.5".

I've stacked up small carbide slitting saws on an arbor with spacers between the saws many times
You may  have to make the spaces a couple of thou wider than the desired slot spacing because
the slitting saws will be hollow ground (thinner in the middle than at the teeth)

Slitting saws are the best option IMHO.

I agree. What I'm hoping, is that I can find something stackable so we can do multiple slots at once. There are a LOT of these things and if we have to machine the slots one at a time it's going to take a while.

Those look pretty nice. I'm going to have to bookmark that page.

Anybody else try to grab the screenshot and rotate it?

No....?

Just me....?

 :help:

BTW that looks sucky sucky...
Hopefully your tolerances give you some wiggle room.

I'd probably make up my own arbor to stack ground spacers between with appropriate sized slitters.

I did a time study and it wouldn't take 'too' much longer if we had to do them one at a time.

It would be nice if there weren't 29 slots. That causes a stacking issue.  lol. Prime numbers suck!  :realmad:

Here is what we use to do these on when we could use bigger saws. I have stacked 60 1/32 blades with .0305 shim on one before and cut some 1/2" deep slots. Took about 6 hours of cutting, but back then we would just hit the feed button and come back every hour and clean out chips.
