Ahoy!
I have been putting a bit of spare cash into buying some gold and silver.  The real stuff, not certificates or futures etc  Anyone else doing the same?  I remember CaMando on the old forum had his "bunker of joy" and was stashing it away for a rainy day so thought I'd ask.  BTW a good way to buy silver in small increments is in Australian round 50c coins.  They made a metric fuck-ton of them in 1966 when we switched over from pounds/shillings/pence to dollars here.  80% silver content.  I imagine other countries had decent silver content at soome point too in their day-to-day coinage.

Cheers

Yeah the margin for buying it from someone (a gold business), and then selling it back to someone (a gold business) - doesn't make sense (to me) vs. gold related stocks.   Sounds fun though

JUST A BIT HERE AND THERE
Feels good to have the real thing just in case you might have to trade it for goods sometime, like if/when the net goes down or something.
also makes a great gift , want to see someone's eyes light up ? give them a couple silver ounces for their birthday Christmas or wedding gift .

that's fine but don't plan on making a killing on it, i've collected coins and bullion,  heard too many horror stories from guy's that got divorced and had to have a fire sale and lost their shirts

It's a hedge against market dramas more than an actual investment, not expecting to get rich.

And, if and when the zombie apocalypse comes, I won't need to find an ATM lol

Precious metals market is wicked manipulated. The big guys have been caught making fake purchases to drive the price up for them to dump. All they get is a slap on the wrist.
Agreeing with Tyler, but i still would mind having a couple ounces in the safe.

When SHTF ammo will be the best currency.  And you've always got a second way to spend it.

Here, here!!
Large Investement groups all diversify into precious metals for the same reason, why shouldn't you, the more eggies in different baskets the better.
