I get that, but if your kid was in the military right now, what would you tell them/him/her/them/they.

I'd tell him, you signed up son for the whole ball of wax... up to and including your life. It's one of the things I've most admired about people that join the military. Literally anything could happen at any time and they do the job. Well, the vast majority do anyway.

One of my Eagle Scouts (best friends with my 3rd son) is in the Navy... we basically adopted him since he didn't have a dad and he's a great kid. He actually gave me his "Dad" pin grom his Eagle Scout kit. We actually had that very discussion when he was at my house a few weeks ago. I asked him what he wanted to do and his reply was my reply above. I think gcode probably changed my mind on the matter for the military honestly a while ago, and ***** (name intentionally blanked) sealed it for me.

Obviously not everyone agrees, but, when you sign up for the military you agree to give everything up to and including your life for the cause of liberty and freedom.

Most of the guys/gals in service right now were first to get it.  You kinda sign your rights away to some point.
The military doesn't need sick people, they need soldiers ready to go.   That's the mindset anyways

Over 40% are overweight/obese. Nearly 70% of people over 60 take more than one prescription with many taking 4 or more. The number one prescribed type of medication is statins. What if the the next "Covid" manages to be come more severe but remain very contagious? It's only a matter of time.

We Americans "generally speaking" live lives of excess. We eat too much. We drink too much. And of course, we exercise FAR too little.

The VAST majority of Americans actually want a pill/jab for everything, because we're so damn lazy and it takes a modicum of effort to do things right. So, until that changes, stuff is going to "get" people that probably wouldn't have otherwise if people managed their lives better. That's the harsh reality. I'm not with you on the vegan thing Doug. Just not. But I also don't think that people should eat a ton of meat. As with everything, balance and moderation is key. Those two things are why the average american is in ROUGH physical and mental shape.

I really can't decide if you are agreeing with me or being argumentative. The point of my post was maybe this whole pandemic should be starting a greater discussion about health.

And I know you won't ever agree with me on veganism. You have shown yourself to be a science denier for years, why would that change now?

"Science denier"... why. Because I ask questions? Because I don't tow the sheep's "science du jour"? Well excuse me for being cautious about crashing economies based on a bunch of "scientists" than gather together for a circle jerk to get more grant money. You of all people... you scrutinize "subsidies" with a fine tooth comb yet don't pose a single question about where the grant money comes from that support your lifestyle choices. Hypocrite!

REAL science welcomes and stands up to scrutiny and doesn't force people to submit to it. At one point "scientists" thought the earth was flat. Hell... they thought the earth was the center of the universe. In the 40's smoking was considered  healthy. In the 70's we were "entering an ice age" and we were all going to have to move south because much of the US was going to be under ice. Now the earth "has a fever". That big ball of fire in the sky and some volcanoes get a vote, yet "science" doesn't ever talk about that. ONE eruption of a volcano wipes out 5 years of automotive standards at a cost of thousands of dollars per new vehicle. "Science denier" because I think vegans like you are extremists?

You're sofa king blinded by your own views and hatred you can't even agree with people on anything that aren't on your vegan side. If you "...can't 'decide' I'm agreeing with you.." based on this statement "... We eat too much. We drink too much. And of course, we exercise FAR too little...", you're blind AF and should really examine yourself. You and I agree on FAR more things than we disagree. We may disagree on the path, but so what. You're like a damn leftist... "..my way or you're a nazi bigot."

I would NEVER go vegan BECAUSE of people like you. Sofa king judgemental about food... Just like Okuma... you pretend to be all investigative and shit... but really, you just want validation of your views. The reality is there's a number of controls out there that will do exactly what you want. It my not do it exactly the way you want so you just poo poo it and say "... it doesn't...". At least I admit my bias.

So just like you mention, science changes as we learn more. Just like the change in regards to smoking and health, the science is showing humans are not made to eat meat and dairy and that plant based eating is far more healthy.

As for Okuma controls being the best, yes there is a bit of personal preference. However I know a Siemens or Mits can do what I want to do. Even a Fanuc with a FOCUS attached PC, built in or external can do what I need as well, just not as easily as an Okuma.

As for me being a "leftist", LOL. I think Biden cheated, Trump won, and the whole Covid pandemic was fabricated by China to knock the US down and Dems are using it for 100% political gain. That's some crazy "leftist" conspiracies there. I'm not some crazy Nazi sofa king as you claim. In truth, I used to say the exact same things you are saying today. I was completely rigid and stubborn and didn't want to consider any view but mine. I made all the same weak anti-vegan arguments I hear on this forum, It wasn't until I decided to open my mind and look at my own biases that I started to see things differently.

"like", as in your behavior shares the attributes of... The left can NEVER agree with under any circumstances with someone on the other side (your particular case happens to be the religion of veganism).

Lets take a deep dive into who funds those studies you point to stating veganism is the only way. They'll be every bit as biased as the people that point to "subsidies" for whatever.
