I remember thinking when that coromat prime turning thing came out and they were promoting some cam solution, wtf is a tooling company getting into cam for?
 Now we know

You would think they would now go after Postability.

Yup.
That's really all we can do for now until the dust settles.

We just renewed our annual maintenance in June, which marks either our 29th or 30th year using Mastercam.
We had one seat that was inactive for a while so a decision was made to drop the maintenance.
Then they recently decided to hire a programmer for the weekend shift.

Yep, we paid full freight to re-activate the maintenance just like it was a new seat.    :w00t:

I doubt it. Sandvik makes a lot of carbide blanks and they sell those to competitors.  I don't see how they could stop a competitor from using it. And if they could, why would they want to? Wouldn't it be just more promotion of Sandvik's product?

same! They call once every 4 or 5 years.  But a secretary emails me once a year to remind us about maintenance.

Interesting. They just bought Cambrio (Gibbs, Cimitron) back in July. Wonder if we will see MasterGibbs?

Similar story
They hired a boy genius engineer
he spent a quarter million on Catia
We had 7 seats of Mastercam and when maintenance came due he dumped 5 seats
It quickly became clear that 2 seats of MC weren't going to cut it and I was asked
to claw back 2 more seats of MC.It had only been 3 weeks so we didn't pay full price, but it was still pretty ugly.
Top Gun Catia drivers were asking $80-100/hour and the bosses would not pay it.
In the end the Catia effort failed and Boy Genius got fired.
As a side note, maintenance on 7 seats of Catia was north of $50K/year.

Same. In the 25 years I've been dealing with Axsys I can't recall ever getting a phone call from them. Granted when Rob was our guy he got shit done if you needed it. But since he left I have no clue who our salesman is and it's been a few years since he retired I believe.

The "Ivory Tower" in Tolland has lost some luster!!!

I'm about two exits down the road from the Tower this week.
Mayhaps I pay them a visit on our way to Bastan tomorrow.
