A couple of years ago, I had the honor of publishing American Secession: The Looming Threat of a National Breakup by Frank Buckley, a prolific author and law professor at George Mason University. Buckley began by noting the obvious: that we in America are more divided now than at any time since the 1850s. We know how that Disunited States of America worked out, and the horror of the Civil War—what Buckley calls Secession 1.0—has led many of us to conclude that we'd put up with almost anything rather than risk a repeat of that disaster.

"Almost" anything.

Buckley does not predict a second American secession, exactly, but he shows, convincingly, I think, how it might come about. "The bitterness" of our life together, "the contempt for opponents, the growing tolerance of violence, all invite us to think that we'd all be happier were we two different countries." There is something to that. And something to Buckley's admonitory conclusion: "In all the ways that matter, save for the naked force of the law, we are already divided into two nations, just as much as in 1861."

I can picture moving out of Michigan if republicans can't win anymore... and I'm not sure they can with electronic voting... too easy to fix the vote the way the people in charge want it to go.

I will not have faith in voting until we go back to paper ballots that can be verified to a signature.

I think you're wrong. It's not that I think Republicans are less devious than Democrats because let's face it, Left Wing, Right Wing... make no difference. BOTH are devious deviants. Different wings of the same bird. What makes me disagree though is that the left; they have a different moral compass. It's how they are wired. The left will do anything, and I DO MEAN [size=200]ANYTHING[/size] to right a perceived wrong and in their minds, they will be completely justified.

I'll give you an example of how the left's mind works; think about so-called "Hate Crimes". Why is it that all the hoaxes are perpetrated by those on the left? Easy, because in their mind, there is an inherent injustice in this world, and the only way to "end the injustice" is to re-create it. Here's just two of the higher profile examples of hundreds, if not thousands of hoaxes.

There are certain lines the right won't cross that the left will. That said, don't take that to mean the right won't cross lines. They just won't cross certain ones that the left will happily cross, and it just so happens the ones the left are more than happy to cross wins them elections.

Correct James. Also look at Cuomo and his little brother... Don Lemon... Or the way the Left eats it's own when one doesn't toe the line. (i.e. Kirsten Sinema, Manchin, the rap singer chick WAP)

What the left will tolerate from their own is MUCH different from what they will tolerate from the "enemy". For example, they will tolerate and dare I say... CELEBRATE, actual former KKK members, killers and serial sexual predators from their team (Senator Robert Byrd, Senator Ted Kennedy, and President William Jefferson Clinton). However, when Trump said something a number of years ago (and yes the comment was disgusting), they act like he performed child sacrifices.

In those 3 cases, the ends justified the means. "Oh Senator Byrd has changed his ways", and the killer and serial sexual predator never even faced ANY scrutiny from any of the #MeToo crowd. It was as if Mary Jo Kopekne and all of Bill Clinton's victims lives didn't even matter. And Killary... that enabling bitch... "Bimbo Eruptions". She never once had to answer for that.

I don;t bring them up to sling mud, I bring them up because in the left's eyes, the end's justified the means. There was NEVER any public repentance or contrition on the part of Ted Bundy Kennedy, Bill or Killary. Those same exact sins on a Republican 1) Republicans would never march that person out there. Not that they believe people are perfect or can change, they just wouldn't... or at least they most definitely wouldn't send some unrepentant killer and serial sexual predator.

To the left, the ends justify the means NO. MATTER. WHAT. It's how they are wired.

I live in Massachusetts. You know the California of the East. In this small town I would go through on my way home there was a rotary ( roundabout for you French Newb 😛 ) where people were protesting Trump for his comment. Being Massachusetts I'm pretty sure the people protesting probably voted for both Kennedy and Clinton. I always wanted to stop and ask them.

Naw not in this town. Mostly older female "whiteheads" with a sprinkling of young brainwashed highschool aged kids. Plus I know it's completely useless. Kinda like telling Reko that everyone who disagrees with him is not a flaming liberal. 😁
