Any idea if you have antibodies, beej? If you've been tested for antibodies and don't have any, would you then say your test was a false positive? I guess that's how it works.

I think all polls we make are anonymous? Just wondering based on the description..

Covid I think I had it twice at the start of 2020, everyone i knew was very sick, this was before covid hit the papers, however that was the first time i had the flu ever, and i thought i would die..

The last few weeks of February 2020 were that way here, everyone was sick.  Everyone I hang out with got it in succession, I was one of the last.  Heck of a fever, couldn't taste anything, worst I've felt since I had the flu in college.  I don't know if it was covid, since covid wasn't a thing in the US for another month, but there's an awful lot of people in this town that go to China and back for work on a consistent basis, so it wouldn't surprise me...

Last October I woke up one morning feeling really bad.
Blinding headache, tight chest, light cough.... but no fever
I ate 3 Advil and went to work. By the end of the day I felt fine
I've had both Covid vaccines and had no reaction to either.
My wife and I are eligible for the booster and will be taking it.
For a while they were testing us weekly at work and I never had a positive test.
During that time 40 to 50 % of the shop was testing positive and getting sent home

Interesting development. Last November my wife and two kids tested positive for Rona. I tested negative multiple times and never had any symptoms. I just assumed it never took hold enough in my system to get a positive test. Well about a month ago I had some of the worst seasonal allergies I have had in years. I was taking Zyrtec everyday just to get by. In the past if I had take allergy meds too many days in a row I would get a sinus infection. That is what I have assumed happened this year as well. A month later I still have a bunch of junk in my lungs and a mild cough. I had just been assuming it was still some seasonal allergies and my allergies to my wifes cats that are keeping the junk going. However, an in laws kid had the same thing going on, but went to get a Rona test because she had been exposed. She was positive. Turns out it it may have been a mix of allergies and Rona. The testing place said her and my description of what we thought was allergies was quite common for mild Rona cases. I don't know what to think now. I may go try to get an antibody test done to see if it comes up positive. It's been almost a year since my wife had it so if I have antibodies it has be from a more recent infection.

I thought you were convinced that you had it very early on.

True (good memory). Since it was before COVID supposedly landed on our shores, I'm calling it 'officially unofficial'.

But yeah, good point to bring up Thad.

I haven't had as much as a sniffle in over two years.    KnocKin On Sum WOOD.

I must have a  great immune system, cause I definitely haven't been taking very many precautions against Covid.

Starting in August of 2019 I got Diverticulitis. By January of 2020 my Ulcerative Proctitis which had been in remission for years had gone to full blown Ulcerative Colitis. I think from the diverticulitis. One colonoscopy and 3 sigmoidoscopies in a year. 3 bouts of c-diff which led to a fecal transplant. Basically another colonoscopy. 2 failed biological drugs. On a third one now. 40 mgs. of Prednisone for about a year and a half. The cramping and  time spent on the throne incalculable. Dragging my ass to work every day. Covid may actually be a welcome change.

Don't feel bad Baby Byte. It's all good. Focus on the positives not the negatives. As in all of life there are good things and bad. I choose to try and focus on the good. My attitude is it could always be worse.  :D

I mean I could be Eggnog.

There's been a publicised case or two where people got the 'rona, recovered, got sinus infections and then things got bad for them. Reading what their family members had to say, the reason they didn't seek medical attention until it was too late; because "long-COVID". The sinus infection could have been treated with a routine antibiotic cycle but because I guess the media in some regions are hyping long-COVID, they just figured it was lingering effects so they didn't seek treatment until it was too late. Sinus infectons are no joke.

Big news from Merck..

Two quotes from article I wanted to comment on:

1. Among patients taking molnupiravir, 7.3% were either hospitalized or died at the end of 30 days, compared with 14.1% of those getting the dummy pill. There were no deaths in the drug group after that time period compared with eight deaths in the placebo group, according to Merck.

^^^ Well, ain't that a b!tch if that was you and you got the dummy pill.

2. Side effects were reported by both groups in the Merck trial, but they were slightly more common among the group that received a dummy pill.

^^^ Placebo had more side effects? Psychological. People starting to take new medication often believe they suffer from some of the side effects that are listed on the drug's info.

So far I haven't had it. A friend of mine passed away last week from it. That's the second death among people I know so far. I know quite a few who have had it, some mild some severe.

my case was a weird deal.  My wife got covid in Dec.  I had kissed her the night before she showed symptoms and she tested positive the next day. So we both quarantined together.  I never got any symptoms except on morning while in quarantine, I fried some bacon and couldn't smell it.  I got tested the next day and I was negative.  3 weeks later I got the antibody test and it was also negative.  Weird that I could kiss my wife, who had symptoms and tested positive and not get it.  2 months later, I was required to get tested before a colonoscopy and tested positive-Asymptomatic. never had a symptom and I knew nobody who had it at that time. And I wore a mask everywhere I went except work and home. I don't understand it.  I really think I had it with my wife, but those 2 tests were both negative.

Last time I donated blood (April of this year) I tested positive for the antibodies. I recall last December having a bitter taste in my mouth for a few weeks. Wouldn't go away. Might of had it them? It was going through the shop like crazy around that time...so maybe?
