Poisoned Water, Corporate Greed, and One Lawyer's Twenty-Year Battle against DuPont

I watched this movie over the weekend.  I don't know that I would recommend the movie as it's kind of slow. I imagine that the book would be better.

I never really followed this as it was happening but it's both interesting and eye opening to hear the story about how Dupont intentionally poisoned the ground water of a town and was also intentionally poisoning their own employees. They managed to drag the lawsuit out for 20 years trying to get the lawyer and his firm to fold and let the case go.

One of the quotes at the end of the movie -
"PFAS chemicals have been found in 99% of the humans tested and are known to cause a long list of cancers, birth defects, infertility, thyroid disease and more. This group of chemicals are "forever chemicals" because they never go away, not from the environment and not from our bodies."
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

 The whole problem is the EPA and OSHA. If we just did away with those agencies and let the free market work this kind of thing would never happen.

I can't help it, it's the troll in me. I normally string up this kind of bait and cast it out there hoping I will catch a Reko. Usually I just get a bite from James.

I would actually be curious to see what kind of spin Reko could put on this.

I've wondered the same thing about a series I've been watching called "Dopesick". It's about Purdue Pharma and their campaign of lies bribery and coercion to promote Oxycontin. At the ended of the day, the executive behind it all didn't go to jail but the company was forced to close as part of the settlement.

'Goliath' Season 4 is about a big pharma company that gets sued for marketing a highly addictive drug under shady circumstances.
Art definitely imitates life, because as I watched this I couldn't help thinking they based it on the Purdue Pharma case.

That was the series finale for 'Goliath', and I was sad to see it go because I thought it was a good series.
OK Season 3 was weird, but the rest of the series was pretty good.
