Big difference. The left is the party of lawfare. They run to friendly judges as means to obstruct their opposition from doing their job. While there are times it may be valid, most of the time it is just an obstruction tactic. Don't like what the R's are doing, get a friendly to issue an injunction.

Quote from: neurosis on November 07, 2025, 08:08 AMIsn't congress also responsible for writing laws?

We're living under executive rule right now. Is that really how you think government is supposed to be run?
I could have made the statement a little more clear... my apologies; in the quoted sentence I was merely stating that Congress Funds the Executive Branch. My 2nd and subsequent paragraphs I outline each branch's core responsibilities. The 2nd paragraph states basically Congress writes the laws.

If you think we've only been living under executive rule "right now", you're really missing A LOT for a very long time. We've been living under oppressive and tyrannical bureaucratic rule for generations and it only gets worse every election cycle. For the most part it's been in the shadows. Only recently has there been any real sort of push-back... because #OrangeManBad and all. :coffee: We can actually change who is in the White House though. We can't change the tyrants hiding behind guns and the letters of the alphabet. Congress COULD have jurisdiction there, they could be responsible for core regulatory matters, but they choose not to be. Hence the premise of my whole dissertation; Congress ceding it's core responsibilities is the #1 thing that is wrong with Government.

I do not think we have a healthy functioning government running the way it should. I have not believed we have had one for decades.

Trump isn't guilty of lawfare?

I'm biased?

Im not a fan of Michael Moore, but that's a great example of how we fuck ourselves.

What lawfare is Trump engaged in?

If you don't think I've been critical of some of what's been going on, you have not been paying attention.

Closing Government Agencies and firing government workers however... that is EleventyBitrillion% what I voted for... and by any means necessary.

No, I have not watched it. Not because I don;t think he'll raise valid points... see above statements. It would be too tiring and serve no real purpose for me. I already hate my government. I can't possibly hate it any more.

I've seen some of it.

That's why I started this thread.

We go off topic, but how do you really feel about unilateral taxation?

Quote from: neurosis on November 07, 2025, 08:13 AMA simpler question, since Congress is responsible for the purse.  Should Trump be able to unilaterally impost tariffs, in your opinion?
According to the Constitution, that power lies with Congress. In the Constitution there are no "except" in there. They have over time ceded that power under certain circumstances to the executive branch.

I can "see" why, but I don't necessarily agree with it because for me, it all comes down to "DO YOUR JOB THAT WE HIRED YOU TO DO YOU WORTHLESS HUMAN BEINGS!" They fail at that most basic of tasks.

You realize that the current Republicans tried to cede that power to the executive so they didn't have to take responsibility for what Trump is doing.
