Or stuff they know, but won't tell us, and instead play dumb.

I hope that isn't true, but that's the problem with politicians getting money from foreign governments. It leaves you with constant suspicions.

Speaking of the FAA...  FEMA and the gov't didn't care about the FAA when the volunteers were using their personal helicopters to rescue people after the hurricane, they threated to arrest people.

Did the FAA ever come out and respond to that situation?

exactly! there is no way that the president can ask our Generals, "Who is doing this?" and the Generals tell him, "We don't know." and get away with an answer like that.

Drones that size should be licensed. What's to keep them from flying into paths of planes.

Does the US not have drone license requirements? If your rig weighs more than 249g you need a registration tag in Canada.

There are some requirements.

"Do you need a drone license to fly as a hobby? No. If you are flying a drone just for the enjoyment of flying, you do not need a Part 107 license. However, every recreational pilot must pass the FAA's Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) before flying their drones."

"What is the largest drone you can fly without a license? According to the FAA Small Drone Rule Part 107, for drones weighing more than 250 grams, you need a license or permit, even if your drone is just for fun."

"In order to fly your drone under the FAA 's Small UAS Rule (Part 107), you must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA . This certificate demonstrates that you understand the regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones"

Ok, sounds about the same, what I expected to see.

China, Iran, Ukraine or one of a half dozen Central Asian 'stans could destroy the Biden Cartel with one press release.
I have no doubt they have audio and video of that idiot Hunter wheeling and dealing for his daddy.
Our foreign policy has been utterly compromised since Biden was VP.
In better times those two would face a hangman's noose.

the articles I'm reading, I've become convinced these are being flown from US govt agencies other than military, like DEA, FBI, etc. While they may be near a government military base, they might actually be gathering intelligence for some other govt agency, and they don't really want to say what the intel is, that they are looking for.

Maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Lioness.

As far as I know I haven't heard Trump comment on these drones.

Federal Aviation Act of 1958 - Creates the FAA and gives them rule making authority of airspace and military, commercial, and private aircraft. One could make the argument that they have overstepped their mandate, but it was an act of congress passed by elected representatives.
