 :P

I never said I hate tariffs. I said that I think sweeping tariffs are a bad idea based on what I've read. If you've read something different I'd be happy to look at it.

I will admit that I think a flat tax is a horrible idea.

I did once when it was new to my town, about 25 years ago or so.
I got something sweet and vanilla flavored. It was ok, but nowhere near the price I paid for it, not even close.

So ur really against choice, then?
Sweeping taxes on everyone's labor without a way of opting out vs. an imported-goods tariff that you have the choice to say yea or nay?
How very totalitarian of you. 😵💫

What are your reasons for feeling that way?

Should be fun to watch a commie get all twisted up about equality and how we need govt in-equality in order arrive at equality.

I know part of the argument, i.e. 10% is more impactful to a person making 30k than to a person making 150k.

We know who pays a majority of the taxes now? If you implement a flat tax, the amount the 1% pays, who we know pays the majority of those taxes, that offset tax burden will be distributed (trickle down) throughout the rest of the tax brackets. The one time trickle down would actually work!  :D

The less money you make, the more you'll be affected by the tax burden.

That is the entire argument. Everyone in here would be hit with a much higher percentage of the tax burden.

Higher than what we already pay?

Something hilarious... to me. I knew who Rush was, but I never listened to him. There was a turd on eWC that used to always reference the "fat-man with a cigar". This went on for a long time. I just figured the guy had a fetish that I didn't eeeeeeven want to know about. Turns out that was the way he referenced Rush Limbaugh.

The owner of this shop (the current shop owners father) was a Rush Limbaugh fan. He had the coffee cups, was signed up for the newsletter.

Every time we would go to meet with customers, he would drive and we would be stuck listening to that garbage the entire time. I considered myself to be a conservative at the time and I couldn't stand Rush.

You do have to give Limbaugh credit. He was good at what he did.

I shouldn't assume that everyone here is in the same tax bracket. I don't know if there is any reliable information on what the percentage would have to be to for a flat tax to generate the same revenue that we do now. If you're making under 100k per year, I don't see how you wouldn't be negatively impacted by a flat tax. Work your way down the income scale from there and it would only get worse.

Do a google search for "who does a flat tax benefit the most" and then look for the people who are typically pushing for it.
