I was wondering what you guys thought of the new interface for stock setup, especially?

Jeff

I haven't had much time to mess with 2023 to be honest. But on the surface it looks like a good start.

It takes a little getting used to, but I like it
You have to make sure you have the correct stock plane set on the machine interface page
or Verify and Machine Sim will not run properly
If you don't have a machine sim for the machine you're using just choose a default one with the right axis combo

What do you mean by "You have to make sure you have the correct stock plane set on the machine interface page" ?
I tried changing the stock plane and it didn't seem to impact verify.

After using it for about 5 hours today I can honestly say that I fucking hate it.
I've reported at least 5 bugs and things that need changing during that time.
It's crashed on me 3 times and froze up to the point where I had to End Task.
The Unified changes I can see why they're doing it, but they aren't complete, they are.... cumbersome.

2023 is not ready for release IMO.

Yeah, I was just reading your post, I was kind of feeling the same way, but I haven't used it enough to form an opinion..

Be that as it may....there's a trainwreck coming if you ask me...

Unless this is the first step in something else that's being done, the entire job setup process outside of MT is a mess

It's also freezing when I create a new Machine Group.
Anyone else seeing this?

I brought an old X9 5 axis job into MC2023.
I had a very hard time getting the stock to come in right in Verify and Machine Sim.
Once I got the Stock Planes in the Job Setup pages set right it all came in

I am really pleased with how the file is performing
It's a big 22 blade impeller Ø40 by 6" tall
The Mastercam file is about 400 meg, the posted code will be about 40 meg and it has 7 stock models
and 45 five axis toolpaths.
I have always defined stock models with Verify generated STL's
Associative stock models have always taken too long to process and went dirty if you blinked at them.
In MC2023, the worst one crunches in 5 minutes and they are completely stable.
They don't go dirty unless you edit a toolpath that is associative to that stock model.
I have to say, I'm impressed.
I'll hold off judgement on the Job Setup issue till we start using it in the day to day stuff.
I do think my younger guys will struggle with it a bit.

Initial impression....wow this is a hunk of shit. I can see what they are trying to do with job setup, but it sure doesn't seem ready for prime time. I do wish they could of made it so you can pick multiple solids for stock...still waiting for that one.

I was dissapointed there doesn't seem to be a way to access the new data with the c-hook api..

This video explains some of the new features
When you first open the Machine Group page in 2023 it's a wtf moment
but it's not that bad once you figure it out.
There quite a bit of it that I like but it will throw you for a loop the first time a
machine sim machine flies in and lands in the middle of the screen.. That can be turned off BTW

People are complaining on the main Mastercam forum, they don't understand how to use it..

neurosis

I've been playing with it a little this morning. It's still pretty buggy.

I don't fully understand it yet. It feels self explanatory, but if I go back and modify things it seems to quirk out on me.
