QuoteWorst Of The Bunch: Among the most egregious cases cited by the FAA are:

A $45,000 fine against a JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU) passenger on a May flight for allegedly throwing objects including his carry-on luggage, lying on the floor in the aisle, then grabbing a flight attendant by the ankles and putting his head up her skirt. The passenger was placed in flexi-cuffs and the flight was forced to make an emergency landing. in Richmond, Virginia.
A $42,000 fine against a passenger on another JetBlue flight in May for allegedly interfering with crewmembers after failing to comply with the facemask mandate, making non-consensual physical contact with another passenger, throwing a playing card at a passenger and threatening him with physical harm, making stabbing gestures towards certain passengers and snorting what appeared to be cocaine from a plastic bag, which the cabin crew confiscated. The passenger was also secured in flex cuffs and that flight was forced to make an emergency landing.
A $32,500 fine against a Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) passenger in January for allegedly assaulting passengers around him because someone in his row wouldn't change seats to accommodate his travel partner.
A $30,000 fine against a passenger on a Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ: ULCC) flight in January for allegedly attempting to gain entry to the flight deck by physically assaulting two flight attendants and threatening to kill one of them.

I'm beginning to think that alcohol on flights soothed the savage beasts. Once they took away the alcohol, people started getting REALLY edgy and any little thing sets 'em off now. There is NO alcohol being served on flights anymore. And if they catch you bringing alcohol to consume during your flight on board... Federal Crime.

US Airways has a policy though, if you give them your alcohol so they can in turn serve it back to you, it's all good. That's the kind of out of the box thinking that birthed the industrial revolution. I'm just sayin'... :coffee:

I have a lot of thoughts on this. probably too deep for a forum called the outhouse. LOL. but  small synopsis, is this:

In America we use to have a stronger sense of community than we do now.  there was a basic instinct in Americans that what is good for the community is good for me. Now take that too far and you get communism, right? But if you go too far the other way you get an extreme style of libertarianism which can also be bad.  an idea that autonomy is the ultimate be-all end-all.  This is just my opinion but I think that the extreme libertarianism is an over reaction to communism. Keep in mind that I'm talking about the extreme here, because people should place a high value on liberty, but not at the expense of community.  With all of that in mind, when you see a person get so angry because they can not follow the rules that a community has put in place that it turns into rage, it's worth looking into.  Maybe the rules are unjust, maybe they are just.  But a person can also evaluate a rule and say, this is stupid but I can put up with it for a short time. A person can evaluate a situation and decide is this rule, which I have considered and decided is stupid, worth losing my civility over.

which brings us to the next point, civility use to have a higher place of honor in America than it does now. Compare Martin Luther King to BLM.  Compare William F Buckley to Fox news. the idea of grace and forgiveness were pretty much codified into a doctrine by the teachings Jesus Christ. Prior to Him, there are roots and hints of it in the Old Testament, but you don't see it in other ancient philosophies and religions to a degree worthy of note.

But America and the world in general are moving away from those teachings.  It is mostly true that a person who recognizes in themselves that they have been forgiven much is also much more likely to forgive others.  If a person who sees autonomy as the ultimate ideal. then they see themselves as essentially, the god of their own lives, and therefore do not need forgiveness and if they themselves do not need forgiveness, do not see the need to forgive others. And we are just in the beginning stages of that behavior now.  It's going to get worse.

I fully agree. I also think it is being fueled by the fact that people have become led by feelings, not logic. The media, politicians, businesses, etc know this and use it to segregate and control us. Both sides do it.

I also see the role that social media has in this. Humans by nature are tribal. The internet and social media has allowed us to find our tribes, versus having to relate to those we share space with, like on a plane. We find our tribes even if they are people we never meet in real life. Then the general public becomes those that are not in our tribe, or worse they become the enemy of our tribe.
