As most of had already known... when you inflate a wage to appease the masses (minimum/living wage) that the money needed to sustain this inflated price comes from the consumer.

Across the nation retailers lifted the menial (entry level) pay. I assume most did it to compete with the
'free" money giveaway from the government.

Inflation is nearly 8% the highest in decades and this is a shock?

Now they say all those wage increases with inflation puts those folks back to the same purchasing power they had before the raise.

I've really enjoyed all the liberal temper tantrums over the last several days since
Manchin gave Build Back Better the thumbs down. NPR radio has been a barrel of laughs
the last couple of days

Wages are no longer based on experience... every one gets a trophy even if you come in pissen on everyones shoes.
am making less than in the 90's and have big league expanded my skill set since then. still gots lots more to learn and while discouraged a bit on the financial reward side I take pride in my work and use that for motovation.
inflation based raises are a shell game IMHO

In a normal year, the raise I got this year would be quite good. Regardless, I am VERY grateful I got one. Many are not as fortunate. This year, it's not even keeping up with inflation however. That steaming pile in the Whitehouse... he makes Jimmy Carter look like a GREAT POTUS.

I got started in this trade in early 1992. I came in at $8/hr. After my probationary period was over, got the Machinist Union's bump to $12.25. 1 year later I got my obligatory $0.25/hr raise. After 3 years there I left when they closed out plant making $12.65/hr IIRC. Today, I am well within in the top 10%. So really, no matter which way I slice it, I AM making considerably more now... as would be expected.

That being said, we all had more purchasing power in 2019 and 2020 than we do today. Thanks in no small part to that steaming pile in the White House and his enablers/handlers.

Democrat fiscal and social policies have consequences. Nearly ALL of them are REALLY bad.

This entire mess starts and ends with sound money policy...

When trillions in cash can be created out of thin air, the devaluation of already existing dollars is the only thing that can happen.

We're on a dangerous slide right now that they have been trying ever so dilligently to prevent from happening since the 2007 crash and the 2008 boondoglle salvation bill...

They've managed to put it off until now but with all the money creation, I suspect it's all but inevitable now.

JM2C YMMV

i show my bosses my pay stubs from 1988 , when i got in to the biz,,, $15.00 an hour and $2500.00 quarterly bonuses ..
and tell them about the good ole days , when the trade ment something if you knew how to do your job and got shit done .
now everybody makes the same shit low wages and doesn't give a shit about the quality  or getting the job done .
