Which type of programmer should I be?

I can't decide which one I want to do for the rest of my life, but I have to choose just one.

I voted gamer. Way more demand for that than a Mcam guy.

Why are you forcing yourself to pick one?

How bout you design software with the Skimpily Clad Hawt women Machining a Part.

You would prolly get half if not more of the Guys here happy to Help.

It's my dream to be a video game developer, I sort of enjoy working on the Mastercam stuff more, making a game is hard!!!!

I suspect there are a whole lot of "game developers" and maybe 10% actually make a living at it
2% make a good living and .01% hit the big time.
 
I'll bet the work environment isn't a whole lot different than driving Mastercam
Lots of pressure to meet schedules and quality goals

I haven't really thought about it, Making posts isn't really something I have experience with..

I am imagine the skills you aquire programming games would be useful in other fields as well. Don't assume this choice will be locked in for a life time. Nothing says you can't change your mind. Do what you love first and see if you can make a living at it. But always keep your options open.

Robotics programming - would be kindasorta a mix between the two and the opportunities are growing exponentially.
