Harvard-Harris poll

Most U.S. voters say Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if Donald Trump were still president, according to a newly released survey.

The Harvard-Harris poll first reported Friday by The Hill found that 62% of registered voters surveyed believe the attack on Ukraine would not have happened with Mr. Trump in the White House, including 85% of Republicans, 63% of independents, and 38% of Democrats.

In addition, 59% agreed that Mr. Putin took military action against Ukraine because "he sees weakness in President Biden," while 41% disagreed.

Quote from: gcode on February 25, 2022, 12:37 PMOne thing to keep in mind about the Russian Army
Except for few small elite units, the Russian Army is made up of draftees on a one year tour of duty.
I read an article by a reporter who interviewed some Russian troops in Ukraine
They were told they were going to participate in war games in Belarus and were stunned when
people started shooting at them.

Ukrainians captured 3 Russians a couple days ago. 19 year old kids. They allowed them to phone their parents. Their parents were very surprised, they had no idea they were in Ukraine!

Quote from: gcode on February 25, 2022, 02:40 PM15 million dead Nazis would disagree with that assessment.
The problem is, these 18 year old Russian draftees have no interest in dying
for a resurgent USSR.

Russians fought bravely against the Nazi invaders. A fight for survival. Fast forward to today and now its the Ukrainians fighting on their home turf. Ukrainian fighters are inspired. Majority of Russian soldiers are not. Last place they want to be at.

And to think, in WW II Ukrainians and Russians were fighting side by side against the Nazis. Both are Slavic peoples. More and more protests are erupting inside Russia, risking retaliation.

Putin is now a pariah to the world and Zelenskyy a hero. Which is worrying in that Putin may be becoming unhinged.

so let me get this straight, Putin can influence/win a US election, but can't "control" his own people with a narrative.... either those Russian people are really smart or US voters are really dumb$@3%

Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, told NBC News he supports the Biden administration's decision not to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

"It would invariably require our aircraft to come into contact with Russian aircraft. The possibility of miscalculation or deliberate confrontation would be very serious," Reed said on Monday.

"The other steps the administration is taking — and the incredible fighting skills of the Ukrainians — have made it something where [Russians] don't have as dominant air superiority as one would thing," he said. "And just yesterday, the Germans announced that they were sending several hundred Stinger missiles. And Ukrainians do have an air defense system."

Earlier on Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended Biden's opposition to a no-fly zone.

"What that'd require is implementation by the U.S. military. It would essentially mean the U.S. military would be shooting down planes, Russian planes. That is definitely escalatory. That would potentially put us into a place where we're in a military conflict with Russia," Psaki said in an interview on MSNBC. "That is not something the president wants to do."

^^^ Biden is right on this, BTW...

haha. To some extent. Biden signed off the Keystone Pipeline on his very 1st day of office. His destructive anti oil policies pressured by the radical progressive wing of his party. Slowing down Gulf coast production to a near 9basically) halt. Texas oil refineries operating at half capacity.

Mind boggling stupidity and cowardice. He knows this is wrong! He's appeasing his radical left constituents. Buying oil from Russia? Still? Madness!

Biden is a puppet. He still thinks he a senator and keeps calling Kameltoe the President!
I doubt he can even tie his own shoes.

Being a puppet is not even what makes him look bad. What makes him look bad is that the puppet masters are all fighting backstage during the show.  after the state of the union address, there will be 1 republican rebuttal which is normal and 2 democrat rebuttals which, to me, is just plain disrespectful.
