I doubt that anyone pirating/cracking software gives a crap about chooks or software automation. The goal has never been to automate software. It's a release game. Who can release the hardest to crack software first.

On that, let me just say you would be surprised....

beyond that really just speculation on my part, truly.

That all said, who knows if it's IHS or CNC or a little of both...or whether it's just all petty shit...

My own thoughts would be that they would want ALL of the good traffic that they could get...the forum had/has really become monetized and I'm betting for more than a few years it generated some serious coin for them.

The "official" Mastercam forum sux....it runs like shit, errors out continuously and feels like a morgue..BUT it has pulled a good deal of traffic from eMc...but I digress from the original topic

I really don't like the way Ihs handled the forum closure of off topic or the way they talk down to customers...

Mastercam should improve their forum, for sure, maybe they need to hire Nero

Unfortunately, that was on the deck for many years by the time they finally did it...there were more than one reason but I think the biggest, it came down to the time it took to manage it....as you know, their base is in Canada and the US sensibilities on saying whatever you like, doesn't completely exist...

and I CAN say for a FACT, as I was present on more than one occasion, other resellers had real problems with the free for all but worse, the way several of their customers were treated.  It was unequivocally stated that they would no longer send their customers there(eMc) for help. Early on, that was one of the selling points many resellers used...the ability to get help from other users. After that, many customers that did find the forum did so on their own...

So that factored in...it was a longtime rub....and I'm betting that was also part of CNC starting their own forum....for years, they too relied on eMc, it cost them nothing to do so....

Now you can all call BS on that but I was in the room, that is direct firsthand knowledge.

lol.  I don't like it either, but their forum is a LOT more complicated than this one. I try to cut them some slack because I know that it's not a simple task to do what they are doing. I really wish that they would at least give us some control over our user experience.
