I got caught in the middle of that one, and somehow the wives mysteriously found out what was going on...

LOL, In my mind I just don't associate avid fisherman as the types of guys that can easily pick up girls, or at least without paying for the service.

I've known quite a few avid fisherman. Like almost anything else, they come from all walks of life.  Some of the most avid fisherman that I knew were also in to hunting etc. Most were married and looking for a way to get out of the house without having to take the wife.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I go there for the occasional FANUC and CAMplete related questions. Aren't many of those anymore.

So sad.

It's pretty sad to see a forum that was so popular for 15 - 20 years, just turn to crap.  That last forum update seemed to have put an exclamation point on it.

That was one of my favorite forums to visit.

Yes... even after the reorganization I was a regular there, looking for spammers to kill but
after the latest update even that is not required

They have autokill enabled  .. 2 reports and the offender is blocked as a spammer

I can't think of any way to justify that kind of money.
The front page says you get "feeds and speeds" in the Premium subscription
I don't recall the old site doing anything like that

I went back to using the Kennametal NOVO site, which looks to be a Kennametal specific version of the machining cloud. They do have speeds & feeds all built in, choose your material, actually very nice, especially for drills. Their drill speed & feeds are a very good starting point. Remains to be seen if Kennametal will charge for their version.

Most of the other mfg's..like Mitsubishi or Walter or pretty much all of the others I have seen don't offer speeds & feeds.

Machining cloud are looking like they want to be a distributor, and their search reflects the products they sell. All of the items they sell are pushed to the top of the list. As the person who buys the majority of the tools for our shop, I can say that their pricing sucks.

So what you have is a online distributor with a cumbersome interface that wants to charge you $1500/yr to buy their poorly priced products.

Sandvik Coromant have speeds and feeds, and their site works pretty well. So much so, I don't even bother with Coroplus. I just download the models, and get the speeds and feeds.

Thats the big question. Subscription based websites, just like subscription based software :)

AD gives me the shits worse than Taco Bell (well, the thought of Taco Bell... I've never touched that crap and never will)
