Former NASCAR driver Bobby East fatally stabbed in California

I follow a K9 thread on Twitter

K9 Kubo was shot during the attempted arrest, probably by friendly fire
The comment say he will be OK.

He was probably getting his life right... getting ready to go to church.

Oh wait...nevermind. He's a white piece of garbage that should ride the lightning.

Even a gun defence may not have helped.
Not sure of the details of this case. Short range knife attacks are impossible to defend.
Captain obvious aside, sorry to hear.

Not to mention, the tattooed lunatic was 6'5" and the victim looked like he was 5'5"
With a reach advantage like that, even a trained fighter would be in trouble.

Now,Now Now, This is clearly a missed opportunity for mental health initiatives to have been invoked.

Did they really have to go in there Guns Blazing??

I would think sending in the prosecutor's office could have rendered a compromise as to alternative sentencing.

Maybe weekends??

I believe this young mans rights may have been violated.

Oh yea By the way ...Sorry about that other Kids Luck.

Oh and by the way G.

Only 1 life was wasted.

I would have slowly done worse to the other.

RIP.

I am curious as to the details of this case. In the few articles I have read it is just "matter of fact" stated that the suspect was responsible for the stabbing. Then the majority of the articles is about how well the victim could drive fast in a circle. I am curious, was there surveillance tape, witnesses, etc. How did the police know who did it. Was there any indication of why. Was it an attempted car jacking, robbery, or just a crazy maniac stabbing someone.

I don't trust police. Why aren't they sharing what evidence they had that point to the suspect. The guy was a POS and I fully believe he could have done the crime. However, it just a little convenient that the suspect was killed while trying to apprehend him and I can't find any mention of how they knew they had the right guy.

What I've read was that they were already looking for the guy on a parole violation warrant
The stabbing occurred at a gas station. The victim was gassing up his car and there was an altercation.
I assume there was video surveillance. The killer would certainly be easy to recognize.
He was 6'5" and covered in a horror show of tats. He would stick out like a sore thumb anywhere.
It was definitely not a good look for a street mugger.

That sounds very reasonable, but why don't police just say we identified the suspect from surveillance tapes or witnesses or whatever. They just say this is the guy and we are supposed to believe them.

I'm guessing this guy was regular customer with the cops and given his distinctive appearance
they knew who the killer was within minutes from witness interviews

It could very well be. I don't have any trouble believing that. I can also believe that the suspect is a validated gang member and the police could be holding back info to keep witnesses safe. This is probably the more realistic scenario. However I just don't like to give the benefit of doubt to the police because they have relied on that in the past to cover up their wrong doings.

Reading between the lines of the attempted arrest.
They spotted him and told him to surrender, he ran and they sent a K9 after him.
He pulled his knife on the K9 and they shot him dead. Sadly, they hit the K9 too,
though reports on Twitter say the K9 will recover
