If the two stray missiles were really Russian I don't see a strategy to them deliberately hitting Polish targets. I don't think Putin wants more NATO involvement.

If the missiles came from Ukraine then it was definitely to escalate and deflect from the evidence of corruption and US gov kickbacks that have been making the current news cycle.

Well there's your problem.  The Russians don't use strategy.

Could be a way to try and save face by drawing a large conflict.

Let's see, just to  spit ball here...

Putin lobs 2 missiles into Poland.....NATO gets it's back up and starts preparing to move east into Ukraine, widening the war....Putin looking for a way out, decides it's time to pull back across his border and then chastises everyone over the Russian "perceived" threat and that they'll be "watching...

Just spitballing but options can be found if you think it through from the Russian side of things and remember, they don't act like the West in most things.

Based on missile debris at the scene, it looks like these were 2 A300 Ukrainian anti aircraft missiles that missed
their target, ran out of fuel and fell to earth in Poland.
Of course truth is always the first casualty of war

Yep, but according to the Sec of Defense, it's Russia's fault. So keep funding Ukraine.

If they were, in fact, "defense" missiles, it is Russia's fault. how would you look at that any other way?

A plausible scenario, and maybe even true.
But yeah, we don't know for sure, and probably never will.

Correct. They never would have been on the air had Russia not been doing this shit. However they absolutely should have had some kind of auto kill onboard had it missed the target. Not just fly and land randomly in another country, but that's likely on the designer.

Quote from: Jeff on November 17, 2022, 06:30 AMSo keep funding Ukraine.

Putin's goal since day one has been to rebuild the USSR
The only reason he has not done that is American military power
Every time we have a weak or distracted president he grabs another piece of the old empire
He sent troops to Syria to kill American's as recently as three years ago though that did not turn out so well for him.
If we can blast his army and air force into junk using American money, American weapons and Ukrainian lives
I'm all for it. Putin's the kind of guy that needs killing. We can kill him now, or kill him later.
The Ukrainians are more than happy to do it for us. They just need the tools to do the job.

Because not only did they enter Poland's air space, they killed people on the ground did they not?

Think about it..if we fired off defense missles, and they flew to Canada and killed people, you'd be ok if the U.S. just said "oops, sorry, they were fired in defense of incoming missiles so don't blame us!!!!"

I'm not OK with it..but if Russia wasn't trying to take over Europe, there would not be missiles flying around
and..
if Putin still had the military strength to do it he'd be big footing Poland too.
He's already eyeballing the Baltic republics.. the only thing that's stopping him there is the threat of NATO and the fact that Ukraine is busy turning his armored formations into piles of scrap.
