At least you narrowed it done to everyone on this Forum. ::)

You could have also made it more specific  , Say "Anyone here not from Kentucky?" :D

3 month treasuries are great. 5% annualized rate, with zero risk plus no state income taxes. Your broker should be able to keep rolling them.
i'm just learning the ropes, honestly. 3 month goes for around $.987 on the dollar i guess. So $25,000 worth will cost $24,700ish. i take it you redeem for full value or $100/per month. $100k will net you $400/month, i guess.

I'm making %4.35 on a secured money market account - It's been the best thing for me for the access of the cash given my spouse's medical condition, and I have to keep face palming when I look at my 2023 stock returns

Thanks Ron  -  Up and down. She's tough as nails and made it through 8 months of inpatient chemo like a champ, walking five miles a day in the hallways. Almost every test she's ever had came back clear - Doctor's have been real proud.

Now she's on 'maintenance' chemo which is supposed to be easier and it's been kind of grueling - has hit her blood counts pretty hard and instead of feeling really terrible for a week and getting a break, it's kind-of terrible every day.  I'm getting someone in to test our house for mold as I'm concerned given the recent tons of rain that she's got a low level fungal infection and we're going to get antigen tests for that this week.
Every day feels lucky though that we get to spend more of it together and we let each other know that on pretty much an hourly basis.

there is evidence of eating aloe vera as away to boost white blood count. Tastes kinda terrible.
We were going down the fungal and allergy rabbit hole after 6 months of pneumonia treatment to no avail. Stage three lung cancer end that inquiry. She's getting her lung drained next week.

your Money market funds should go to your margin balance where you can generate some income with writing cash secured puts. I think this is right...I'll find out soon. JEPI seems like a stable income generator.

Tyler glad she has responded well to big treatments. Sorry to hear about the ongoing ones giving her such a hard time. Just keep being there for her and enjoying that time. I have put my wife through some grueling times, but nothing like you two are going through. Offer still stands you guys feel up to a trip to see the wine area up here be glad to help anyway I can.

Michael Burry (the Big Short) likes 2 yr. treasuries now. SHY would be a good ETF for that. 4.6% gains or around there with very little risk.

Ugh I'm sorry to hear that - it's a brutal rough ride no matter the cause.

That latter paragraph went over my head a bit - if I did that would I still have immediate access to unleveraged funds? As I have this in a money market account not fund, I can pull when needed - which we could have to do if we need a clinical trial

Money market funds are still considered a cash asset by your broker. 1 day settlement period for schwab. So totally liquid. After 30 days of holding SWVXX (4.47% currently) in schwab, that amount held goes to your margin balance in a margin account. In a non-margin retirement account you can use finds held as collateral for writing cash secured puts, if you're into options income. SWVXX wont automatically liquidate if you get assigned. I've been visiting the options rabbit hole lol ;D
