I have to admit, that I don't understand defamation cases at all. If you are just giving your opinion it's not defamation, but if you state it as fact than it is defamation? is that right?

But if you state it as fact to the extent that it seems like exaggeration on purpose, then that proves that it's opinion?  I honestly can't make sense of it. but I would like clarification if anyone understands it better than me.

The difference in the Fox defamation case, is that they were pushing a narrative on air while privately texting each other that they knew what they were telling people was complete nonsense. 

I didn't really follow the Maddow case at all so I don't know the details. I do know that she won both the first case and the appeal.

I have a feeling that Fox could potentially beat this as well. Defamation is pretty tough when as you say, you're talking about opinion shows. The one thing that surprises me about Fox, is that with all of the evidence against them they didn't just settle. They must be pretty confident that even though they've been busted lying to and admitting to lying to their audience, it won't affect their ratings.  And it probably wont.

I don't think that it was any one person. The last topic he was involved in had some back and forth going on and I think that it eventually bothered him enough to move on. 

I don't usually see Matt get to the point that he becomes impolite in a conversation. He's one of the few who don't.  He was getting a little wound up in that last one.

Thanks.  I just figured I don't need the stress of interacting with people who I disagree with so vehemently, while I'm trying to grow a business and deal with everything else that life throws my way. I've basically banned myself from political discussion for the foreseeable future.

When he found out there were no balloons and parades for him at the 1000 post mark he ran away like a child.

That's probably not a bad policy to have if it's just a frustration to him. 

Hopefully he'll change his mind and come say hi some time in the future.
