He'll have whatever viewpoint he's paid to have.

I'd listened to a couple of interviews that he did a few years after he got his own show on Fox. His personal beliefs didn't align with anything he was saying on Fox.  Or, he was lying in the interviews? He sounded like a left leaning libertarian.

I've never read anything about what changed him from on party to the other. I do believe that he gave an interview to WaPo where he admitted to being a liberal but more of an old school liberal.

He was just an on air personality as far as I was concerned.  You got to see behind the curtain when he gave those interviews. He was nothing like what he was on-air. It really came out in his texts that were recently brought to light.

As far as changing from one party to another, he needed a job so he made the switch. No need to overthink that one.
