A recent assessment of office building values per sq. Foot pre-Scamdemic vs. Post-Scamdemic;

Down 75%

What is up? Business CLOSURES, Proliferation of petty crime, Proliferation of violent crime, Proliferation of drug use.

One Target gets robbed 10x per day.

The policies that ENCOURAGE San Franfecesco to continue down the path to becoming completely lawless are 100% pure products of Democrat policies. And guess what, it WILL get worse before it gets worse. It will NOT get better. Not in anyone walking this earth today's lifespan.

As of that were not enough; reparations. As of this moment;
San Francisco's proposed reparations plan could cost the city over $100 billion, the New York Times reports.

The plan, backed by DEMOCRAT San Francisco supervisors in March, would dole out $5 million to each Black resident, eliminate all personal debt, guarantee annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years and homes for Black residents for just $1, among other things.

Hope you all are watching this shit show because you all are gonna be footing the bill for it.

San Franfecesco was only 2nd to New York in population loss.

Some areas have 45-50% vacancy rate for office space. 😆😅🤣😂

So if I move to San Fran and identify as a black person do I get my share of the $100 billion?

It's not my intention to stir the pot on this issue, but it's my (mis?) understanding that office occupancy rates are significantly down across the country at the moment, and that it remains to be seen what the "new normal" will become in the post-covid world. I haven't looked into how this may split in "liberal" vs. "conservative" states but suspect that it is not a fundamental driver of this despite what some might fear (or hope for).

We both live and work in "Silicon Valley" and have wondered for quite some time why so many folks have to go into the office when much of their work is done on a computer (exceptions for those of us who work in shops, for example), and the last 2 years gave us all an opportunity to try an alternative mode of working. I suspect that companies with large office spaces will trim their sails to reflect this new reality when their leases are up...will this result in a sea change or just a tweak?

Traffic is back to "bad" again....glad the shop is close to home.

it's important to be onsite to the 500,000 sqft shop so the boss can feel you are adequately managed in the 200 sqft broom closet with 10 of your coworkers and associated flatulence.

Absolutely Brian, a fair portion of that vacancy rate can be attributed to "new normal" type stuff because as you noted most of if not all city occupancy rates are down across the nation. However, I'll contend the majority of it is as a result of the unchecked crime, unchecked violence, and the elephant hiding in the corner; looming reparations. Companies getting out before that bill comes due. Gotham .... errors New York City is the only other city in the US with numbers as drastic as San Franfecesco.

Productive ctizens and businesses are leaving California at an unprecedented and historic rate. Democrats have (at least out loud) said "everything is fine. Toyota moving it's US HQ is nothing, Boeing closing up nearly all it's facilities is nothing, Their "nothing" amounts to 265 HQ relocations since 2018. For the first time in history, California had a net loss in population. These things are a net result of the California Legisslature's unrelenting regulatory attack (396,000 regulations to be exact according to Forbes)  on businesses, highest tax rates on families and individuals in the US.

Voters in this state can't put 2 and 2 together, or choose not to. Back to San Franfecesco; 95+% of registered voters are registered Democrats. They own it's condition 100% lock, stock and barrell.

Some 30+ years ago while living in Lawrence, MA....we were living on the 3rd floor of a 3 tenement building. Lawrence has a very large portion of it's population that are immigrants from Puerto Rice, Dominican Republic
and South American countries...buildings with major cockroach issues is an issue.

That said, the building  we were living in, my wife came across a couple in our pantry area, she in turn called the landlord and within a couple days an exterminator arrived....

One thing he said stuck with me and I do think it "might" be relevant here...he said, "most calls he gets the bug problem is much, much much larger, he noted that we called out at seeing 2....his comment was along the lines that and I'm paraphrasing, "they don't call when they only see a couple, only when the problem is huge and noted that those people expected to live with a certain amount of the problem"

I think to a point that the same issue is at play here....many countries immigrants come from have issues worse than they experience here, so they are willing to live with some of it becasue what they have experienced is much worse.

Can't really prove it but at one level it does make some sense....we see it as terribly bad, they see it as bad, just not quite as a bad as "was".

Just some food for thought.

NPR posted something about the office building vacancy issue... and that it's "worse" in San Franfecesco and Lost Angeles. Nation-wide the number is 25%

https://www.npr.org/2023/05/16/1174938708/commercial-real-estate-property-offices-work-from-home-remote-work

Not living in SF, I'm not sure of the immigration population there... LA OTOH has a MASSIVE immigrant population. 48.4% hispanic or latino (not white), 28.1% white (not hispanic/latino), 11.7% asian, 8.6% black/african-american.

Stands to reason your pest management professional made an astute observation; because it sucks less than where they came from they live with it. And live with it they do. MANY areas in Los Angeles proper look like places in 3rd world countries; squalor so bad it is a very real public health crisis especially in the many homeless encampment. Diseases that were more prevalent in the medevil times are making a comeback... diseas like typhus, shigella, Hep-A, etc...

Back to policy... it is policy that creates/exacerbates these problems, policies created/maintained solely by ONE political party; The Democrat Party.
