We used to remove the pressure reducers out of our air nozzles. It started off shooting clay balls. Then moved on to shooting rivets through your neighbors paper drink cup. It stopped when a guy started using steel tubing to shoot dowel pins. He shot a hole in the jig bore room door window as well as a solvent can. Kinda stopped after that.

Quote from: neurosis on May 31, 2023, 09:36 AMBack in the late 90's we used to fart bomb each other here all the time.  The bombs came in a little bag and you had to break a little bubble inside. The bag would go for about 30 seconds and pop and it would take out an entire area of the shop.

By their standards, I'd have been in prison.
Yeah those glass sulphur stink bombs. I think you can still get them. Unless Karen got offended and cancelled them.

Buddy of mine used to shoot ball bearings out the back window at gophers and groundhogs on the railroad tracks out back of the building we were in..

Did you actually read that?

Even the article points out that it's how Israeli's are....

Quote"Most times Americans see Israelis as prying" in a way that in the US "can destroy relationships. But it's just Israelis being their typical selves," he told JTA. "It's just classic cultural differences — different countries develop different cultures.

I have to say - how many people were shot just over Memorial weekend alone?  That doesn't seem like an armed polite society to me.  :D

I think the days of armed polite society are in the past. Now it's shoot first ask questions later.

I guess that would depend on the reasoning for arming. I'm sure the Russians do not feel all that polite to the Ukrainians. If you are armed to protect the transport of narcotics. probably not all that polite.

Every year, we go deer hunting and stay in a hotel with a bunch of other armed deer hunters and that experience has always been very polite. I rabbit hunt on public property a lot. there are several different races of people that rabbit hunt on those properties. White, Black, and some Muslim Bosnians. It is always very polite talking to the different groups there. So if you're decision to arm is nefarious, I'd say that is the difference between polite and impolite.

Used to work with a guy who would walk through your area dropping bombs. He called it "crap dusting". 😁

I'm guessing the people who's baby was shot because they were caught by a stray bullet coming of a bunch of a-holes fighting outside of a bar didn't think that was very polite.

Society includes everyone. Regardless of their intentions. Just about anyone can get a gun. Even those with bad intentions.

What are we at now as far as people being shot this year in the US?  Something like 7000.  17000 if you include suicide?  How many US soldiers died in Afghanistan over 20 years?  2000?

We just shrug our shoulders at it like it's not our problem.

in 1950 anyone could get a gun through the Sears & Roebuck catalog and have it mailed to their house. but we didn't have the kind of crime then, that we do now. So what has changed? Why don't we try going back to what worked in the past?

Can you name something, anything that will work AND doesn't trample on people rights?

Anything?
