You think Bezos didn't lose a big chunk of his wealth in the biggest divorce settlement in history?
His probably made Tiger Woods' divorce settlement look like chump change.
Somewhere around $38B is the final figure his ex received, minus her legal fees I expect.

Quote from: Newbeeee™ post_id=3946 time=1611082561 user_id=157Hahahahahahaha - do you actually think they give a fuk about the poor?
When the gov has forced everyone to stay at home who is self employed or working for small companies (UK + Spain)?
I mean look what the UK have just announced - they're cutting universal credit payments by 20£ per week.
I SMH at them all.
And anyone who falls for their shit.

If they gave a shit about the poor, or anyone else for that matter, Pelosi wouldn't have held the covid relief package up and then settled for something worse once Biden got the votes for the election.

Pandering for votes.

The Covid relief was a tiny little line item tacked onto the pork bill, so that anyone who voted against the pork could be criticized.

Since 2017 we have had to consistently raise wages to find employees. We used to hire saw operators for $12/hr. We just had to raise the advertised wage to $18 just to get any decent amount resumes. Prior to Covid the record low unemployment was raising wages for everyone, especially minorities. This was because of Trump's tax cuts and removing onerous business killing executive orders of Obama. Biden wants to undo all that and go back to the Obama "we will never see GDP growth above 2% again" policies.

I thought that the pork was packed in to the omnibus bill, which Pelosi and Schumer decided needed to be passed along with the relief package. Another shady move on their part.  The bills should have been voted on separately.

It was, as was the Covid relief.  And Trump's attempt to repeal section 230 to get vengeance on Facebook and Twitter.  I agree, every item should be a separate bill, argued and voted on separately.  This tendency to lump everything into an all-or-nothing bill is destroying the nation.

Quote from: Dan_AKA_ROY23 post_id=3932 time=1611079075 user_id=82Or the 18 year olds McDonald's hires? Expect our Big Macs to go way up in price (hmmm... haven't had a Big Mac in years, come to think of it).

Out of curiosity, how much do you think that Big Mac would go up in price? $.50?  $1.00?

Important question. If minimum wages are raised nationally to $15/hr, many fast food workers will have their wages instantly doubled. You would have to surmise that one counter measure would be to raise prices. This would be an extra tax on the poor (biggest impact is on them) and also the middle class. The well-to-do don't eat at fast food restaurants.
