Out of curiosity, how much do you think that Big Mac would go up in price? $.50?  $1.00?

Important question. If minimum wages are raised nationally to $15/hr, many fast food workers will have their wages instantly doubled. You would have to surmise that one counter measure would be to raise prices. This would be an extra tax on the poor (biggest impact is on them) and also the middle class. The well-to-do don't eat at fast food restaurants.

many fast food workers will be replaced by robots too.

Robots have the ability to mop floors and put fries in the fryer? (yeah, they can)

Cali has been bumping the minimum wage by a dollar a year for several years now
I think it's up to $14/hour now.
It's breaking the dairy industry in Cali.
Between increasing wages, increasing regulations and Federal Milk Markets price controls they are
really hurting.
My wife's boss shut down a half dozen of his small dairies last year putting a couple of hundred people out of work.

And the world keeps spinning, I expect in the near future this will be a thing, but the big impact financially of Covid will make it difficult for even the big guys to afford to heavily invest in automated equipment.

Also when wages instantly double in fast food restaurants, staff will be reduced.
Yes, they will be making more money, but they will also have to do the same amount of work with fewer people.
Franchise owners will take the majority of the hit, and menu prices will reflect that.

But the social justice warriors will all feeeeeeeeel good, so yeah...

The wages probably would contribute to a small price increase but the market would adjust.

Competition between fast food places (in your example) would prevent the places from just making crazy price increases. Exactly the way it's supposed to work.

There might be fewer workers but it's hard to tell how much of an impact that would have. Most businesses don't have extra workers they don't need so they still gotta have those people.

Automation is already being used to replace those workers anyway even with the wages very low.

And I expect there will be exemptions for a lot of those workers anyway.

As I said before, I'm interested in finding out more details before making judgments about it.

CBO estimates Bidens $15/hr plan would will up to 4 million jobs. Note; it's a link to Fox business, but they link the actual CBO report
https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/heres-how-many-jobs-bidens-proposed-15-minimum-wage-could-kill-according-to-the-cbo">https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/her ... to-the-cbo">https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/heres-how-many-jobs-bidens-proposed-15-minimum-wage-could-kill-according-to-the-cbo

Personally, since I have updated my resume and job title to Automation and Controls engineer, I have been getting weekly pings from recruiters looking for automation engineers. $15/hr wage would speed up the race to automate every $15/hr job. It should make my skill set in bigger demand, and worth more $$$. As long as the compensation stays ahead of inflation it could be a win for me.

We could only hope! If $15/hr wage kills the milk Liquid cancer industry we would be better off as a country.

Been saving all I can for the past five years since my divorce.
Just bought 5 acres in northern Idaho with a tiny 350 sq ft home and 16x36 shop .
Going off grid , will only have small 15 year mortgage and taxes as my bills.
Maybe get a portamill and build a new house or add on to the existing one.
Any of you guys ever heard of a wood gasifier? Thinking on building one before  I move out there.

If Biden and Dems want unity then they best include compromises for 74 million voters. You can't fight just as hard for those who voted against you if you don't address the issues they care about.

I hope Joe is successful in building unity and we're a big, happy family in 4 years.

Having said that, you can't build unity with people who don't want unity and you can't compromise with people who won't compromise.

I'm not optimistic.
