Your team is leading 20-17. You've got a third down. There are 35 seconds left in the game. The play-clock in college, unless after a timeout or other break such as a penalty, is 40 seconds. Your opponent has zero timeouts.

Here are your choices: (1) run a play; (2) kneel down.

Miami and coach Mario Cristobal chose the first option. The Hurricanes, despite needing to only kneel to win the game, ran a play. Running back Donald Chaney, in a handoff up the middle, fumbled the ball to Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets went 74 yards in 26 seconds to score a touchdown and win the game, 23-20, in a most improbable victory that will surely go down in college athletics lore as one of the more baffling coaching decisions in the sport."

I can't imagine a scenario where he still has a job if I were the AD.

He must have smoked some weed.

Ego. That decision was 100% pure unadulterated ego.

USC took triple overtime to defeat Arizona. USC didn't score until the 2nd Quarter. I think they went 2 or possibly 3 series where they were 3 and out. It was BAD. What pisses me off though, USC wins and they STILL drop in rankings.

The PAC-12 is trash. Good riddance.  In ALL the years I've been watching USC Football (42+ years), NONE have had this many TBD's.

George Kliavkoff and his bitch ass daddy Larry Scott before him should be in prison. The Athletic Conference that has brought the USA more Olympic Medals than any other BY A MILE will be no more... because of Tennis, hubris, and ego.

ND's coach has to feel good, knowing he's been passed over for bonehead coach of the year.

Makes me wonder who REALLY wasn't paying attention. Because on EVERY team there is at least ONE person dedicated to clock management that is in the coach's ear.

Yeah, I've never been a fan of teams that move up on a bye week and/or leapfrog teams while on a bye week. That's fucking stupid.
The SUCKEYES should be ranked no better than 6th behind FSU, USC, and Oklahoma. You can even make a case that Texas should be at 7. That game was crazy.

I didn't see any of the USC game but checked the score every now and then. They must be basing that drop soley on that game alone.

He had an explanation, and it was very thin.

"When the drive started, it was going to be at 1:57 and we could burn about 1:27 off and then it was recalibrated. We should have taken a timeout there at the end. We thought he could get the first down and we talked about two hands on the ball, but that isn't good enough. That's it, we fumbled the ball and they went 75 yards in two plays. There is no excuse."

But if you watch the video of his presser, it kind of sounds like "I told him to take a knee" after "That's not good enough"
Something that isn't quoted in the above statement that is making it's rounds.

USC dropped after WINNING the game against Arizona, dropped again after WINNING the game against Colorado, AND dropped yet AGAIN after winning the game against Arizona State.

3 wins and a total of 4 or 5 dropped spots. Whenever USC plays late games (read games after the press on the east coast goes to be around 9pm EST) they drop unless USC blows a team out, regardless of the outcome. It's bullshit.

USC was #5 at one point, then dropped to 8 now 10 with zero losses   :foreheadslap:
I don't get why Texas is 9th with one 1 loss. USC should be 3 or 4 IMO, battling it out with FSU and Oklahoma for the #3 spot. Then the SUCKeyes or Nittany Lions or Oregon or Washington. (haven't seen much of those 4)

3 close wins against weak opponents.

Just keep winning games and things will take care of themselves.

Not sold on USC. You do have a stud QB. (just win your next game, rankings don't mean much yet)

We're not playing teams like Little Sisters of the Poor like some teams do. :whistling:

We don't get the benefit of games during bitch ass college football voters waking hours. They just look at the box score and make a decision... because their precious beauty sleep is more valuable than actually watching the game and making an accurate assessment.

We're not only getting screwed by lazy ass reporters, but our butthurt conference too. This WHOLE situation would have never been an issue had 1)USC capitulated to the NC Double ASShats during the Reggie Bush era probe. I still say FTP's! 2) The conference didn't hire a bitch ass tennis wonk to be it's commissioner, 3)The Conference didn't listen to the good idea fairy and  decide they could do a better job of broadcasting and showcasing the conference than established media entities AND get greedy with distribution rights (as of today the PAC-12 Network is available only to a select few cable subscribers and Fubo or Sling subscribers if you've cut the cord). It's complete horseshit! ALL of it!

^ Well, wait until you join the Big Ten. Then you won't have any more excuses when you play real teams..  ;D

(PAC12 teams are pretty good this year, I'll admit)

Will the PAC12 even survive? Its getting gutted pretty severely.

You have a 4 touchdown lead against overrated and overhyped Colorado and barely held on to win.  ;D

Michigan..Penn State..Ohio State

^Lucky for you, they'll probably put USC in the West Division.........

I do not believe they will survive. If they do, they will have to raid the Mountain West Conference and it will not be a Power Conference anymore.

All that remains is Washington State and I think one other team.

Colorado overhyped? 100% That's what happens when your team hires an NFL Hall of Fame player AND the only athlete to EVER play in the NFL Super Bowl AND MLB World Series. Hype comes with the territory. He's not my cup of coffee. Not my circus. Not my monkeys. NCAA should just get used to it. Hype is going to surround that guy the rest of his natural born life. Overrated? Considering they are unranked, kinda hard to say that, expecially since 25% of the ranked teams are there because of media bias.

Play Colorado and you can say that they are overrated.

The reality is if your team was football royalty like USC is, you would understand that for the majority of teams USC plays, that IS their bowl game.

I don't care what division USC is in. I'm just gald to be out of the Pac-12 and it's ABYSMAL so-called leadership.

Calm down and take off the rose colored glasses (pun intended).

Outside of you, I've never once heard that to be the case, not from anyone in person or in the media. USC as a program isn't any more elite than Michigan, OSU, Bama, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.. .or any other program with a storied past.
Now, if you put USC in the same category as those that I listed, then fine. But above them? Not a chance.

Notice how I left out nd. That's because their entire fan base and everyone involved with that school is fucking delusional and think they are above everyone else.
