We have a guy here working at the shop that I would have swore was in his late 60's, early 70's and he looks in bad shape for that.  I found out a few weeks ago that he's only 3 years older than I am. 

He must have had a rough life.

My kid invited me to go pheasant hunting in western Kansas this weekend. We were talking about what to bring, travel arraignments, etc.

We were laughing and joking about stuff and he suddenly got serious and said, look dad. I just want you to know, this is gonna be a long day. We will be walking miles and miles. I just want to make sure you're up for it.

If I could've slapped him through the phone I would have.

I was like, how fuckin old do you think I am, kid? I may not run marathons or play hockey like you, in fact, I know I can't. But I can sure as shit still walk.

One day soon though it will hit ya that you just can't do the things you use too.

Well, that day isn't here yet.

Walked almost 20K steps Saturday and another 12K on Sunday. Most through head high grass or picked corn/milo fields.

I derived a great deal of satisfaction listing to the 20-something kids whine on the drive home about how sore they were, well for the first couple hours. For the next 5 it was just annoying.

But the thing I'm most proud to report is that I was NEVER the one calling for a piss stop.

Sunday we went after quail. They seemed plentiful. And if we wanted to, we could have shot a ton of doves.

We ended up getting checked by a game warden on Sunday. It was the same guy who staying at our hotel. Small world, considering our hotel was about 40 miles from where we were hunting.

Nice. I'm glad there are some healthy populations of birds when you get away from KC. 

We used to have a ton of quail around here but I haven't seen a quail in many years now.
